Hello dear friends of Hive DIY, I hope you're all doing well and having a great Saturday. I'm reminiscing about old anime moments, and one of my favorites is the appearance of Charmander, the Pokémon abandoned by his former master. Despite being abandoned, he waited for him in the rain, shielding the flame on his tail that symbolizes his life. It's one of the greatest moments, as he later teams up with Ash, becoming a great Pokémon, although he does become a bit of a rebel when he evolves, haha. Beyond that, he's considered a very powerful Pokémon who always comes through in times of trouble. I've drawn the version I knew, the small and brave Charmander. This drawing was done entirely with colored pencils, which I used to achieve these tones. Here's the step-by-step process and a video for you to enjoy. Let's begin!

Hola queridos amigos de Hive Diy, espero que se encuentren muy bien y que estén teniendo un gran día de sábado. Yo me encuentro rememorando viejos momentos del anime, y uno de mis favoritos es la aparición de Charmander, aquél Pokemon que fue abandonado por su anterior maestro, y quién sin importar el abandono, lo estaba esperando, bajo la lluvia, cubriendo la flama de su cola que significa su vida. Uno de los momentos más grandiosos, ya que luego hace equipo con Ash, convirtiéndose en un gran pokemon, aunque luego cuando evoluciona se convierte en un rebelde jeje. Más allá de eso es considerado un pokemon muy poderoso y que siempre sale en los momentos difíciles, yo he dibujado la versión que conocí, al pequeño y valiente Charmander, este dibujo esta hecho solamente con lápices de colores, los cuales utilicé todos para lograr estos tonos, aquí los dejo con el paso a paso y también un video donde podrán disfrutar. I bought Fabriano paper again, one of the best for drawing. I ordered the high-density version because it's also moisture-resistant for acrylic paints. I highly recommend it. For the sketch, I only used a 4H drawing pencil, with a very fine point that's easy to draw and erase.

Compre nuevamente papel Fabriano uno de los mejores para dibujar, lo pedí de alta densidad ya que soporta también la humedad para utilizar pinturas acrílicas, es una cartulina que recomiendo mucho. Para el boceto utilicé solamente un lápiz de dibujo escala 4H, de una punta muy fina para dibujar y fácil de borrar las líneas.

I started by drawing and painting the eyes, which I wanted to make very bright, using blue to create a good contrast between Charmander's orange and the color of its eyes. Another thing I do is use white to paint the areas where the light reflections will be. My goal is for the colors to be very vibrant, so using a good light reflection always helps a lot; it gives a very bright finish.

Comencé dibujando y pintando los ojos los cuales quiero hacerlos muy brillantes, aprovechando el color azul para que haya un buen contraste entre el color naranja de Charmander y el color de sus ojos. Otra cosa que hago es que con el color blanco voy pintando las partes donde irán los reflejos de luz, mi objetivo es que los colores sean muy resaltantes por lo que usar un buen reflejo de luz siempre ayuda muchísimo, le da un acabado muy brillantes.

Then I start painting the face, so first I apply a base of very light yellow. This is so that I can then use a gradient to go towards darker shades, allowing the orange tones to show through. As you can see, after that I add darker shades of orange. It's like going down a staircase, with each step representing a darker shade; that's how I visualize what I'm doing.

Luego comienzo a pintar el rostro así que en primer lugar coloco una base de color amarillo muy claro, esto es para luego con un degradado ir hacia lo más oscuro, así se podrá ver los tonos naranjas. Como pueden ver luego de eso le voy poniendo tonos mas oscuros de naranja, es como bajar una escalera y cada escalón representa un tono más oscuro, así es como visualizo lo que estoy haciendo.

When it comes to shading a drawing, you can't rule out any shade within the color range you're using. For the shadows, I used a color that's between purple and fuchsia, so it's a color that falls between warm and cool tones. This way, you can see how the contrast is noticeable and the drawing is taking on a 3D effect.

Cuando se trata de dar sombra a un dibujo no se puede descartar cualquier tono que este en el rango de colores que estemos usando. Para las sombras utilicé un color que está entre púrpura y fucsia, así que es un color que esta entre los cálidos y fríos. Así pueden ver como el contraste pued enotarse y el dibujo está tomando una forma en 3D.

I continue painting the arms and then work my way down the lower part of the body, applying the same colors to the face and head as I did to the limbs. In some areas, like the edges of the arms, I leave some sections unpainted to later touch up with white paint, making the light reflections on Charmander's skin more intense.

Así voy pintando los brazos y voy bajando por la parte inferior del cuerpo, de la misma forma que apliqué los colores en el rostro y la cabeza voy haciendo lo mismo en las extremidades. En algunas partes como los bordes d elos brazos voy dejando partes sin pintar con colores para luego retocar con pintura blanca y así hacer más intensos los reflejos de la luz sobre la piel de Charmander.

Then I finish with the limbs and the tail. One important thing I did was add something to its feet, in this case some rocks. I didn't want Charmander to just appear on the leaf as if it were floating, so adding something extra helps the colors and their effect do their job better.

Después voy finalizando con las extremidades y la cola, una cosa importante que hice fue hacer algo en sus pies, en este caso algunas rocas, no quería que charmander solo apareciera en la hoja como si estuviera flotando, así que colocar algo extra ayuda a que los colores y su efecto hagan mejor su trabajo.

Of course, I couldn't forget to paint the flame on Charmander's tail. Once that was done, I started outlining the entire drawing with a very fine-tipped pen. Finally, as I mentioned at the beginning, I used a fine brush and white paint to add some highlights to the eyes, head, and limbs, making sure to include Charmander's two small fangs. And that's how it turned out.

Por supuesto no podía olvidar pintar la flama que Charmander tiene en su cola, una vez terminado este proceso comienzo a delinear todo el dibujo con un bolígrafo de punta muy fina. Por último, como dije al principio, con un pincel fino y pintura blanca voy haciendo algunos detalles de iluminación como en los ojos, la cabeza y las extremidades, sin olvidar de hacer los dos pequeños colmillos de Charmander, así quedó finalizado.

What do you think of the result? I think the colors turned out very vibrant. This time I didn't use mineral oil for blending; I only used an alcohol-based marker in a few specific spots, but this time I let the colors take center stage. The stroke is always circular; it's the best way to make the most of the colored tip and achieve the desired results. That's all for now. ¿Qué les ha parecido el resultado? creo que los coloes quedaron muy brillantes, esta vez no utilicé el aceite mineral para difuminar, solo utilicé marcador a base de alcohol en algunos puntos en específicos pero esta vez deje que los colroes fueran protagonistas, el trazo siempre es circular, es la mejor forma de aprovechar la punta del color y lograr los resultados deseados.
