In scripture a name is important and significant. Therefore, when God tells us to call him I AM, we need to take notice.

In John 15, Jesus tells his disciples to abide in him. He claims to be the vine. If true, that has big implications.

Jesus begins John 14, by telling his disciples to not be troubled and to trust him. He goes on to tell them why, all pointing to this statement in John 14:6, "I am the way and the truth and the life". Jesus is the only way to the Father.

In John 11, Jesus is confronted for not being there for his friend Lazarus when he died. But, it is through his late arrival that he is able to reveal himself to his friends and followers in a profound way. Jesus raised Lazarus because Jesus is the resurrection. If you know Jesus Christ, Lazarus is a preview of your resurrection.

Jesus Christ came into the world to lay down his life for his sheep. By the power of God, he was able to take back his life from sin and death. When Jesus says, "I am the Good Shepherd," he is calling you to follow him.

In his claim, "I AM the door," Jesus is making an exclusive claim, making a glorious offer, and extending unsurpassed benefits.
