This episode of Chasin’ Birdies is a special one. We were a part of the WVU Medicine Children’s Inaugural Golf Tournament at Nemacolin Resort and we hosted a live podcast for the guests of the event. Tyler Reeve joined us on this episode to share his story with us and tie in some golf talk. 

We cover a lot of topics in this episode, but hearing again how certain songs are created and the inspiration behind them never gets old. Tyler wrote Brett Young’s “In Case You Didn’t Know,” which has over a billion streams. A text message to Eric Church led to the collaboration with Luke Combs on the hit “Does to me”. We have a lot to catch up on. Since our last drop, a lot has happened in the golf world. Most importantly, the Ryder Cup just concluded, and it didn’t go our way. We recap the Ryder Cup and offer our two cents—not that it matters, but we do it anyway. 

What is the envelope rule, and why is it applied? The matches were a lot closer than anyone may have thought when it came down to the finishing holes on Sunday. Did this ½ point matter? Corey Crowder has written hits for Florida Georgia Line, Chris Young, and several other country artists. On any given day, you can find him behind his mixing board in his home studio, droppin’ some beats, crafting some melodies, and dreamin’ of a fairway. 

As a Grammy-nominated producer, we get a look into his early career and living in bustling Nashville. We hear about his close ties to Florida Georgia Line and watching that beast grow. Crossed up, hand check, ball in the hole. Chandler Parsons is here on this week’s episode of Chasin’ Birdies. Let me tell you...The guy is cooler than your momma’s sweet tea on an August afternoon. As expected, this episode is full of twists and turns and highly entertaining.

Here we are—the last major championship of the year, “The Open” championship as we know it. Today on Chasin’ Birdies, it’s the open mic drop as we get into golf talk, the final major of the year, and hear from a legend in Rocco Mediate as he drops by the show to share a few of his thoughts.

We banter for the first few minutes in typical fashion. We turn our focus over to Royal Portrush (which we both played in 2022) and discuss our betting picks. Can McIlroy get it done in Northern Ireland? Is it going to be another US Open where the underdog prevails? We dive into all this and more. 

When Rocco joins, we get into the talk between the players and the media. He tells us his thoughts often comparing what Mr. Palmer would do. We circle back to the AWFUL ruling Sam Burns got at the US Open, and who he thinks can take it down in Northern Ireland.

This show gets into some recap of a recent golf excursion in GA and SC. If you’ve been to the Tree (“Peachtree”), you already know how special it is. If you’ve been lucky enough to stay and play at Sage Valley, you will enjoy the commentary in this episode. 

We got into the recent travel golf we’ve both been lucky enough to play. A phenomenal host and a phenomenal group of dudes make any golf trip special. After some tension arose Friday night between the two of us, we licked our wounds and moved on. For Pepe, he couldn’t help but bring this up at the beginning of the show. 

We recap the Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta and shed some light on that day, as well as how the course is playing. What holes are beautiful and what holes are your nemesis creates some valid discussions. We mosey on over to Sage Valley, where it feels like you’re arriving at a 5-star resort, but you realize you’re at a private golf club with no cost to spare.
