Messer was the head of a sophisticated network responsible for laundering billions of dollars in illicit funds connected to the sweeping “Lava Jato” (Car Wash) corruption scandal that implicated Brazil’s highest echelons of political and economic power. This week’s Narrated Story follows Messer over about two years as he slipped between Brazil and Paraguay to evade justice, using fake identities and a complex web of financial schemes.
