On this episode of Chasing Mythic Rooney and Kroeker wade through Arena and figure out the different formats and how each of them are played.  Rooney talks about figuring out the quickest ways to jump into Arena and start building your collection to make the best decks possible.  After that, Kroeker tries to figure out his favorite way to play and what he wants to focus on this season. 

In the deckbuilding corner, Rooney talks about his U/B Zombies deck and how he has built an engine meant to overwhelm your opponent with an undead horde with the power of Meathook Massacre.  Kroeker talks about Mono-Red Goblins and it's explosive power in Battle-Cry Goblin, and how he wants to focus on the archetype in Historic and Standard.

Chasing Mythic is back and with renewed focus!  Rooney and Kroeker are here to share their first takes on Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty as the set is fully released, and Rooney starts to take the journey into figuring out how to adjust to a new and ever changing meta, while Kroeker explores some of the current events going on with Magic the Gathering.

With many new things to come in the future, the guys look at what Chasing Mythic means to them, and try to figure out how to make Magic more than just a game.

Chasing Mythic is back for 2021!

In the return of Chasing Mythic Josh and Bri talk about their house rule variant for Phase 10, a classic tabletop card game.  After that they dive into the chess board to examine the similarities between Magic the Gathering and chess, and finally they finish the episode with a discussion about Historic Goblins in best-of-one Historic on Magic Arena.

In this episode we look at how Josh and Bri are tweaking their Card Wars decks and compare the play styles and cost of Card Wars to Magic the Gathering, while Bri speculates on why Josh seems to ALWAYS have more cards to sort.

After that Josh goes over his time in Arena this week playing Limited Amonkhet Remastered and Mono-Red Goblins in Historic Ranked.

 

Welcome to Chasing Mythic - a podcast about trading card games!  In the first episode, hosts Josh and Bri Kroeker talk about their history with card games and how they became important in their lives.  They also discuss the two card games they are playing most these days - Magic the Gathering and Adventure Time: Card Wars.
