Grimm's fairy tales are a bit grim, and we're going to talk about them. Disney did a bit of white washing of these tales and our guest Ryan is going to strip away that white washing. It seems that a lot of these stories are to scare humans into behaving, morality tales if you will. Cinderella, Snow White, Hansel & Gretel are rather dark.

Shockoe Bottom in Richmond,VA is a historic part of the city that was a major slave trading center. During the Civil War many of the buildings there were used as hospitals. Today many of the historic buildings are being renovated to house apartments, restaurants, shops, and bars. And we know what happens when surroundings get changed-ghost don't like it.

The team went to the Virginia Renaissance Festival Memorial Day weekend. Three of us dressed in garb, two didn't. So much more fun when dressed up! It was a record-breaking attendance day for the festival! It was crowded but didn't feel crowded; more vendors this year which is good. It was the first Renaissance faire for Ryan, and he loved it. Think I may have another convert. Renaissance festivals are something we enjoy doing. People watching, shinies, food, drink, entertainment-just a few of our favorite things!

Ryan provided tonight's cocktail the Ozmopolitan, think the musical 'Wicked'. It's apple vodka, melon liqueur, lime, and lemon juice. Shaken over ice, strained into a cocktail glass. I added a bit of simple syrup to cut the tartness a bit and give it a bit of balance. Needless to say, it's very green. It's a sipping drink.
