After 60 episodes of chat chit where I have had had endless conversations with fantastic people, I (Chris) am leaving York Mind and therefore chat chit. In this episode I have pulled together some of my favorite conversations, some of the weirder conversations and some of my favorite pieces of advice that have been given over the years. Chat chit will still continue just without me as the host aswell as all the other parts of the project. You may also hear me with the mini series of surviving in the wild where we talk about different aspects of mental health with clinicians and proffessionals with lived experience, so tune in there.

 A massive thank you to all who have featured on the podcast as it wouldnt have been possible without all those people being so honest, open and genuine about their mental health experiences. Most of all thank you to all of you who have tuned in for a heck of a lot of chit chat. I hope it has helped in one way or another and that you know after listening that whoever you are, you deserve the support and you deserve to get better. I know it doesnt feel like it all the time but it can, you just have to find the thing that works for you, and trust me i'm still working that out too.

Liam and I have had a strangely similar life and the crossovers started to get a bit freaky at times. Even though our stories of mental health do run parallel to one another, the way we understand it and how we learn from our struggles keeps changing and adapting. This is one of the key things we hear from Liam in this podcast where ho he understands is mental health has evolved and changed and likewise the ways he manages it. Liam is the head of cocreation for Tees Esk Wear Valley and talks all about the value of listening to peoples stories and from this it helps to inform and improve services. An absolute pleasure to have him on the podcast and to hear about what he has gone through and overcome.

Every year the University of York and Lancaster University lock horns in the battle of the Roses. This year, they have partnered with York Mind to raise awareness of the mental health struggles and fundraise for the charity. 

In this episode of chat chit, I (Chris) welcome TJ on to the pod. TJ is the sports officer at the University of York and talks to us all about her mental health struggles alongside her experience of stigma, the positive impact of sport on her mental health and where the Roses partnership came from. 

We talk about the differing ways stigma manifests in India vs England and how it was for her moving to the UK at 17 for University. We talk cricket, community and the positive impact sport can have alongside ways people can manage with their mental health.

Where we have been and how far we have come is so important when we are trying to understand our mental health. Acknowledging the hard times is so important, because it gives us chance to see the steps we have taken to try get better and feel happier. 

That's one thing that Sam does in this podcast. Would he ever have thought he was able to go to Norway when he struggling with his mental health? Probably not, but he did manage to and he talks us through how he did it. A kind and soul who just wants to do right by others, Sam talks us through his mental health and its relationship to his Autism, amongst other things like the barriers he has faced and how he understands ways to deal with them.

We talk football, school, masking alongside hearing how he made Chris McCausland laugh. It was a pleasure to have him on a talk about his experiences.

Well o well, here we are again! I know we go off topic on chat chit but it got a little bit silly in this episode, where we had to genuinely chop out about half an hours worth of traveling chat about Korea. Let us know if you want to hear this absolute shenanigans.

Anyways, this podcast features the lovely Roxanne and all about her and her story. From understanding the addiction of a family member to grief and loss, we get an insight on how Roxanne manages with her mental health and the passing of her dad. She has such a matter of fact and positive outlook on how we deal with grief and it was a breath of fresh air to hear her way of living even through some of the saddest of times

She has set up @LifeafterDad to help other young people learn and find hope in what she went through especially when conversations about death are awkward and tricky. Amongst her story we talk modern family, Pilates at university amongst other drivel.

What is the buzzer game I hear you ask! Well in this episode of chat chit we see whether you can have a serious conversation about mental health alongside chatting about who your first tv crush was. Every 20 minutes an alarm will go off and we will answer a completely random and unrelated question.

We welcome Elliot who is the area lead for Andy's man club to talk about his journey of mental health. From early life and moving south to emotive music and fantasy football. We weave all sorts of tangents to try and show you that having serious conversations about mental health doesn't have to always be so serious.

I dont quite believe that Elliot is 22 after learning everything that has gone on in his life over the last 10 years, but nether the less we get some fantastic insight into his story and the great work he is doing now with Andy mans club.

Firstly if you are reading this then thank you for being a follower and supporter of this podcast, the more people that listen, the more we can help. So please share follow and like etc etc  (all them things people say that we forget to). 

We went a little more informal this year and decided to take chat chit on the road,  or should I say on the rails. We spent the afternoon in York railway station asking people for tips for managing their mental health in the Christmas period. There are some fantastic insights from people in this episode aswell as some laughs talking about some christmassy things. From crocheting to watching spiderman, there are all sorts of tips and ways people manage and things like to do in the Christmas period to help their mental health.

I can see the benefit of having a mental health nurse having such a calming voice. I think its a pretty good benefit when you are doing a podcast on mental health aswell. No i'm not talking about me, i'm talking about Nathan, this weeks guest on chat chit. We start with James blunt and end with Linda McCartney Sausages but what we have as the filling for this taste sensation of an episode, is a selection box of insight and advice on managing and understanding our mental health.

In this episode we chat to Emily who is well versed to being in front of a microphone and she lets us in on her mental health journey, from understanding what anxiety even is to struggling with body dysmorphia. Along the way in this episode we understand the struggles of being an "adult" in your 20s when you are trying to find your place in the world.
