   • Under "Search by" select "check MC Number" or "Name" depending on the information you have.
   • Enter the USDOT Number,  MC, or Name.
   • Click "Search" and you'll be able to see the motor carrier's details, including their authority status.
2. Another way is to go to SAFER Web:
   • The Safety and Fitness Electronic Records (SAFER) System also provides company safety data and related services to the industry and the public over the internet. You can visit SAFER Web and input the USDOT Number or Motor Carrier (MC) Number to check the authority status.

Remember, if the authority status is "Not Authorized," it means the carrier does not currently have the authority to operate.

Always make sure that you're looking at the correct type of authority. For instance, a company might have authority for "Property" but not for "Passengers" or vice versa.
