I wasn't exactly sure how this thing worked when i ordered it, but after playing with it, it might be useful in larger LED displays using addressable LEDs (like the WS2812 / neopixel, and many other types).

Then again, previous experiments (https://youtu.be/JlltJcHJhUU) show that it might not be entirely necessary...
