Checkmate Arcade Podcast

I blame Canada for the length of this show and for the PC crash that halted the recording last week. Your hosts, however, don't blame anyone for all great and not so great games they've been playing in the mean time. Jason hops in the ring with UFC 2009, gets a ton of games for free, and gives Gears 2 the cold shoulder. Steven heads back to the wasteland in Fallout 3, finishes his second run through of Fable 2, and hates on the Battlefield Heroes beta. Plus the news and the NPDs for April. Tune in for a jam packed show.

Only 5 bucks for one slightly used soul, that's a sweet deal if I ever saw one! In this rant filled episode, we go off topic more than once. Listen in amazement as our train of thought goes of the tracks at nearly ever turn. Jason finally uses his PS3 for more than TV or movies this week with an update on Home and MLB 09: The Show. Steven has lukewarm feelings toward the multiplayer demo of Bionic Commando and lets loose a storm of cursing at Fable 2. Going off road was never this much fun, so tune in and see where the dirt road takes us.

This episode is sponsored by NFL doctors, who remind you to always wear a cup. That's a joke by the way. Jason, however, does break some bones and some nuts in Blitz 2 on the 360. He also grabs a buster sword and dices up classic FF7 monsters on the go in Crisis Core on the PSP. Steven apologizes for the delay in finishing the editing last episode and blames it all on Fable 2 for the 360. Plus, arguments galore in the news. So tune in and wear your cup for this installment.

Surprise! There's a surprise inside this episode, but its buried under some audio gremlins. Don't fret too much though, will still give you the biggest news of the week and rundown what we've been playing. Jason finds time to go under cover at a local GameStop to play the demo for MLB 09: The Show on the PS3, before playing 14 other games. Okay, so maybe he wasn't under cover, but it sure sounds like it. Steven doesn't do anything exciting, but he does have time play the demo for Operation Darkness on the 360. I'll just let that speak for itself. Tune in and turn it up.

In this episode, your semi-insane hosts go off topic with Yu-Gi-Oh! video games and analyzing a wedding. They get back on topic by discussing a new Fallout game, Street Fighter 4's free championship mode, and what price is right for downloadable maps. Jason rants about PC gaming and Capcom gives Steven an aneurysm. Tune in for a fun little hootenanny.

And in with the new. The hosts quit Realms Radio, but don't fret, they will continue to cobble together a new show for you each week. Just with a new company backing them.

This week our intrepid hosts discuss the new Gears of War 2 multiplayer update, find out why elves are cool in ShadowRun, bully some stormtroopers in The Force Unleashed, finally talk about Braid, and talk about some of the cool things that happened over the past 50 episodes. Plus, the news and now reviews. Tune in and kick back or fire up a game, whichever you prefer.

This week our heroes talk about Resident Evil 5's AI, cheating in Tales of Vesperia, the hardcore ShadowRun community, the thought process over at Konami, the potential pitfalls of OnLive as a console replacement device, and much more. Plus, they rundown the top 5 PSN and WiiWare games. Tune in for some comedy gold.

Jason's been busy. He played fifteen games this week. Sure ten of those are demos, but still that is still insane. Steven only played four games. In the news this week we talk about map packs, some good Wii news, a new Zelda game on the DS, and much more. Tune in for for the banter.
