Elias was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect while still in the womb and was quickly transferred to the Stollery when he was born. He had his first open-heart surgery at just six days old. His mother Cecile joins 630 CHED Afternoons.

In 2008, Tracie and Sue found out the child they were prepared to foster, and later adopt, had been born at 33 weeks. When they met Elijah, he was hooked up to a feeding tube and was struggling with his oxygen levels. A week later, doctors realized Elijah had several holes in his heart.

Kirstie's daughter Aubrey was diagnosed with Beals Syndrome, a rare genetic connective tissue disorder at just four weeks old.
