On the day I turned 30, my dear friend Clarissa's husband Rob died. Now, that day is laced with sorrow and joy for both of us and our friendship has reminded me of the importance of honoring our friends who have lost a spouse. Whether young or later in life, this loss is happening around us so we sat down for a quick bonus interview with Monie (from episode 1!) and Clarissa to talk about how to love well through loss.
Betsy is a wonder. She cares deeply for community and we talk about how she and her husband bought a house in their empty-nest years just to fill it with those who need a place to call home.
Mark and Katherine lived the majority of their lives single and got married in their 50's/60's. They join us to talk about how God gives us good things and while marriage is wonderful, it's A thing--not THE thing.
First of all, we have our first man on Cheer Her On! Dave and Marilyn have been at my church for decades and share about growing up in the '40s and '50's. While Dave grew up overseas, Marilyn grew up on a farm in the States and they found one another in college. We talk about the importance of church family and remembering what matters.
Welcome to Season 6: Tell Me Everything You Know.
After a 4 month hiatus, Cheer Her On is back! This season, we're going to hear from people you can't follow on social media. And honestly? They're some of our very favorites. We're calling them "Seasoned Saints" because they're all over the age of 55. This episode's guest is named Monie and she was born in 1935. We talk about friendship, grief, ministry and how the Bible just never gets old.
Davy Flowers is a worship leader and songwriter with the voice of an angel. In this FINALE episode, we talked about coming to Jesus with our grief and anchoring ourselves in what's True. We're so thankful for her wisdom and she's the perfect voice for the last episode of the book club season for What Cannot Be Lost.

The wise and compassionate Vivian Mabuni is here to walk us through the process of grief and how we can find hope in trusting Jesus. This chapter is about looking to God, even when things are a mystery and Viv shared about how to practically help our loved ones walking through hard seasons.
This episode is basically a therapy session for us all. We discussed Chapter 7 of What Cannot Be Lost: Honest to God. What does it mean to be honest with the Lord and those around us? And how can we tell who is safe to be vulnerable around? Let's discuss.

How can you learn to hope again? It's time for Cheer Her On LIVE at this year's Cheer Her On Weekend. This chat with Nicole Zasowski was a GIFT as she brought her counseling expertise and then, we were surprise joined by Clarissa Moll, and had a conversation about how to befriend through struggle.
