Would you be my? Could you be my? Won't you "Love...Thy Neighbor"? In a special holiday episode of Cheers Weekly, we receive two special gifts at the bar. First, a Saved By The Bell alum stops by the bar to help solve a burning mystery involving adulterers, jackals and fornicators. Are you Team Vera or Team Norm? The second gift is a Festivus miracle...a visit from THE Fred Dryer! (But unfortunately in voice only). Pop the champagne, look up the definition of a love bunny and enjoy this eighth episode of Season 4! (Review starts - 11:51)
Have we entered the twilight zone? Carla is taking out personal ads to find a man?!?!? Episode titles that mimic future MC Hammer songs?!?!?! Mimes!!!!! It's zany...it's crazy...but is it up to normal Cheers standards? Or are we heading down the dreaded Elvis episodes road. Grab some Bailey's and find out as Randy and George debate "2 Good To Be 4 Real". (Review starts - 7:32)
The holiday season is in full swing here at Cheers Weekly and presents abound! The large gift under the tree with a nice bow on it is George's report from the Whistler Film Festival including a fantastic interview with Mr. Movie Guy in Victoria, Jason Whyte. Randy is helping out with stocking stuffers include a review of the nine movies he consumed over the break, nicely categorized. But the gleaming house on the block with all the cool lights is our episode this week that involves Hemingway, lobster salad, the Guinness Book of World Records and Sam Malone naked as a jaybird. Grab some eggnog, gather the family and enjoy "I Will Gladly Pay You Tuesday"! (Review starts - 30:35)
It's a Halloween episode for Cheers this week as the scares and laughs are as plentiful as a fall harvest or the number words Cliff can make up in order to win a game of Boggle. Diane faces down a major fear in the person of convicted felon Andy Andy, as well as her major weakness, Sam in a velvet smoking jacket. And just as a haunted house has many highs and lows, George focuses in on the roller coaster ride that is indie filmmaking. Grab some hot cider, wear your favorite costume and enjoy "Diane's Nightmare". (Review starts - 12:12)
In what may be the first instance of paid product placement in an episode title, Cheers Weekly presents the fourth episode of Season 4, "The Groom Wore Clearasil". Carla's son isn't seeing things straight, Diane isn't interviewing great and Cliff just isn't all there. And if any of our loyal listeners happen to be a huge fan of House of Cards, you have been warned, as Randy rants on the series' final season while also describing how to make good money during election season. George rights the ship a bit with his take on the show, Collateral, while chastising Randy for his failure to sample The Romanoffs. And then to top it all off, we have an utterly shocking surprise for our ratings challenge this week. You have been warned! (Review starts - 15:40)
What is George's view on the role of death in Ozark, Season 2? What is Randy's opinion on the first episodes of the final season of House of Cards? What exactly took Diane's breath away while watching Baryshnikov? And what exactly is Sam jealous of regarding Diane? Plus, for those of the more philosophical bent, what is this third episode of Season 4 trying to tell us regarding the role of physical appearance in our judgements and assumptions? "Someday My Prince Will Come" serves up the questions - come on in the bar for some answers! (Review starts - 13:20)
It is the second week of season four and we are at full throttle!! We have George detailing the highs and lows of location scouting, Randy discussing his modern and historical film influences, Woody contemplating the janitor at Cheers advice on sublimation and Frasier learning the downfall of bar tabs. Plus, is Sam's bar tab policy a sound business practice? Pull up a chair, grab some rumaki and enjoy "Woody Goes Belly Up". (Review starts - 13:24)
The bar is open and the boys are back!! The season 4 premiere of Cheers Weekly kicks off with an extended intro covering George's and Randy's hiatus activities including George's Vancouver adventures for VIFF and Randy's Paris adventures for The Ryder Cup. In addition, we get a detailed breakdown of The Americans final season (as Randy has finally caught up), so spoiler alerts are in effect. As for our favorite gang of bar patrons, Sam details his adventures to Italy, Frasier details his humiliation, Woody is introduced to the big world and we see where Diane is seeking refuge from all of it. Plus, Randy proposes the first item of Cheers Weekly merch...a t-shirt commemorating the Sisters of the Divine Severity. Cook up your favorite rice dish with a nice pinot noir and enjoy "Birth, Death, Love and Rice"! (Review starts - 29:07)
It is the finale of season three!!! Will Diane marry Frasier? Will Sam fly to Italy to stop the wedding? Will Cliff get a kick-back from his travel agent? And will the restaurant staff ever get over Luigi's death? Plus, all the top music and movies from the summer of '85 that we will miss in-between seasons. And to top it all off, the announcement of which episode has earned the esteemed "Cristal with Bottle Service" designation for season 3! Order up a couple barrels of Chianti and enjoy "Rescue Me"! (Review starts - 6:05)
We have Carla on the warpath plotting revenge against Drusilla Dimeglio (including an under-utilized guest turn by Marsha Warfield), Frasier plotting his downhill skiing career and Cliff plotting just plain poorly. And as as bonus, we witness Randy's utter failure regarding basic sitcom history. Order up your favorite draft with a cornflake in it and enjoy "The Belles of St. Clete's"! (Review starts - 10:45)
