As we watch Mary, Peter, and John discover the resurrection of Jesus, we’re seeing them shocked awake to the reality of who Jesus is: a personal God who loves them, wants a relationship with them, and knows their names.

We tend to find ourselves in one of two categories when it comes to sharing the truth in love. There are those of us who lean more to the side of love, and there are those of us who lean more to the side of truth. The gospel offers us a third way to share the truth in love through understanding love and truth in light of Jesus and all he has done for us. This allows us to be fully truthful and fully loving at the same time.

Have you ever felt like God has called you to do something that you’re afraid to do? In this sermon we’ll look at a story from Acts 9 about someone who felt exactly the same. God does not simply tell us to do things for Him, but He calls us to do things with Him.

Sharing the gospel will most likely take place in the context of relationship in our lives. What can we learn about Gospel conversations from Paul’s preaching in Acts? We are all called to respond with the Gospel to our friends.

Often we see the Gospel in terms of a destination: we make it about something that happens after we die. Scripture talks about the Gospel in terms of a destination, yes, but also as an identity. Through Jesus we are brought from death to life!

As we look back over the life and experience of Peter, he writes in his own final words about the way he sees Jesus. His understanding of his salvation is directly tied to the patience of the Lord.

It’s easier to know how to follow the Lord when we’re on the right track. But what happens when that grinds to a halt? When we’ve failed in a way that seems irredeemable? This week we follow Peter through his greatest failure and into greater grace.

Walking on water was a moment in Peter’s life that made him famous. But what’s really on display in this story is the power of Jesus Christ. Will we be the kind of people who would pray alongside of Peter, “Jesus, command me to come to you?”
