Peter reminds the exiled, the persecuted and the oppressed that although we might not “see” it, God’s might holds us and protects us. His care and security never fail.

Rather we ought to expect and see it as the foreshadow of Christ’s returning righteousness. For the trials of a believer are not the same as the pointless anguish of the lost. And this truth should move us to compassion and good works.
