In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul addresses church discipline and sexual immorality. As the church and Christians, have we slide back to where we have become calloused towards certain sins? Sin should hurt and our duty is to long what is best for the body of Christ! We are to love the Church the way Christ loves the Church! We must protect the Church as well. As Christians, we cannot become calloused to sin in our own lives and in the lives of others. Listen to this sermon about from 1 Corinthians 5 in the fifth part of our In The Word - 1 Corinthians series.
When the world is watching us as followers of Christ, there should be enough evidence to prove that we are guilty of being a Christian. In 1 Corinthians 4, Paul reminds the Corinthians that as followers of Christ we have been called to be servants and stewards. Being servants and stewards is evidence of us being Christians. We are the under rower and God is the captain of our ship. When we hear the voice of the Captain, Jesus, there's victory in that and comfort in that! We get to trust the Captain as He directs us where we are going. When we acknowledge Him, He WILL direct our paths! God, we'll paddle when You say, "paddle," and we'll rest when You say, "rest." Listen to this sermon about from 1 Corinthians 4 in the fourth part of our In The Word - 1 Corinthians series.
In 1 Corinthians 3, Paul tells the Corinthians it has to be all about Jesus Christ. It's all about God and what He is doing. We all have a role in building the Kingdom of God. However, we must be careful with what we build with. What materials are we using to build on the foundation of Jesus Christ in the Church, our local church, and our own individual lives? When tough seasons come, this is the time in which the materials we are using to build with will be exposed. What materials are you using? Listen to this sermon about from 1 Corinthians 3 in the third part of our In The Word - 1 Corinthians series.
We never thought our Easter Sunday would look like this as we are celebrating Easter in our homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even on Easter, we cannot get too caught up in the tradition. We have to remember what Easter is about. In 1 Corinthians 2, Paul tells the Corinthians that he is just going to share God's story. God sent Jesus to die on the cross to pay our sin debt so we wouldn't have to. When Jesus resurrected, our hope was born. The reason we don't need to be afraid is because of the hope we have. Our hope is not in our earthly circumstances; our hope is in our eternal glory that we have in Jesus Christ! That is why we celebrate Easter! Listen to this sermon about Easter from 1 Corinthians 2 and Isaiah 53 in the second part of our In The Word - 1 Corinthians series.
Everywhere we look there is division! Division is the first thing Paul addresses in 1 Corinthians, but Paul also always references Jesus. It's important that the Church remembers that the only thing that matters in the Church is Jesus Christ! That's what it's all about and that's what it always need to be about. When the mission and the vision of the Church is anything other than Jesus Christ, then we've missed it! Are local churches trying to make a name for themselves or for the Savior? God is challenging us to take our eyes off of a location and put our eyes back on Him and the Church! We have to quit worrying about our church names and starting focusing on the name of Jesus! God is unifying the Church like never before! Listen to this sermon about the Church from 1 Corinthians 1 in the first part of our In The Word - 1 Corinthians series.

In 2 Peter 1, Peter emphasizes the importance of knowing God and pointing the world to the knowledge of God. As believers, we grow in the knowledge of God by reading and being in His Word that He has given to us. If there is no Word, there is no growth. If you're in the Word, it will not return void. In 1 Peter 5, Peter tells his readers that they must humble themselves and that they can cast all their cares/anxieties on God because He cares for them. The same applies to us as Christians; we must set aside our pride and humble ourselves. We cannot attempt to do things only God can do. Admitting we can't do it is the first step in humility. Do we trust God enough for Him to tear up our mess and let Him fix it? Are we willing to submit to all of His plans, ways, and authority? Have we truly set aside our pride and humbled ourselves? Listen to this full message in the sixth part of our In The Word series as we unpack 1 Peter 5.
In Peter 4, Peter begins with punches to the face begging for people to stop sinning. It's time that saved people start acting like saved people and quit acting like lost people. Listen to this full message in the fifth part of our In The Word series as we unpack 1 Peter 4.
