He accuses Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson of engaging in a massive political cover-up, prioritizing party loyalty over public safety. Vargas criticizes Johnson’s lack of leadership, noting his 6% approval rating and frequent hospitalizations for panic attacks. He calls out Pritzker’s hypocrisy for deploying the National Guard to protect DNC donors, while refusing to do so for everyday citizens. With 150,000 gang members and only 11,000 police officers, Vargas supports deploying the National Guard as a necessary step. He emphasizes that residents themselves are begging for federal intervention to reclaim their city.
