The African Farmers' Association of South Africa (AFASA) has withdrawn from the Poultry Master Plan.  Why?  

Chair Kobedi Pilane tells us that the transformation agenda in the Poultry Master Plan is an afterthought, whereas it should be front and centre.

South African poultry needs export to create new markets for our chicken.  This has been a hard nut to crack.  But Seymour Talpert of the Association of Meat Importers and Exporters tells us that initiatives are underway to open up this lucrative market.

For our poultry industry to grow, our country needs a reliable and stable source of chicken feed.  Up till now, we have been forced to import.  But GrainSA tells us that these days might be over.

ABPA, the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein producers, is distressed by this perception and would like to set the record straight.
