Episode Description: A New Life Beginning in 1990

In this episode, I want to share a part of my life journey that began in

1990, the year I arrived in the United States as a refugee. It was the

beginning of a completely new life. Everything was unfamiliar—new

language, new culture, and many obstacles along the way.

Starting over was not easy. Life was full of difficulties and

uncertainty. I did not speak English, I had no money, and I did not know

how life in America worked. Like many refugees, my family and I had to

work very hard just to survive. We worked long hours and overtime, doing

whatever jobs we could find in order to build a better life.

At the beginning, I was not very lucky with my sponsor. They were not

kind or supportive, which made the transition even harder. But life also

brought good people into my path. I met others who had also come to

America to start over. Together, we supported one another and worked

hard to build a foundation for a new life in this country.

Many families like ours worked nonstop. Everyone in the family had to

contribute. We struggled, sacrificed, and pushed forward every day so

that our families could have a better future. Some people were fortunate

to have strong support systems and took care of each other along the

way.

As for me, I was just one person trying to survive. I worked hard even

though I didn’t know the language and had very little money. The road

was not easy, but step by step I kept going. Looking back now, I realize

that those struggles shaped who I am today.

Life is full of challenges, failures, and mistakes. But those

experiences can also strengthen our hearts and teach us valuable

lessons. The hardships of the past helped build resilience and courage

within me.

Today, I want to share this story to remind everyone that no matter how

difficult life becomes, we must continue to move forward. Never give up.

Every challenge can become a lesson, and every struggle can make us

stronger.
