Ep. 2 In this episode you will discover the Marvelous Minds Academy method of using kindness and observation as a way to build genuine connections with the families we serve as a Childcare Center. While focusing on the long-term solutions such as establishing a sustainable business model, we also acknowledge the immediate needs of the children and their parents.
Why is it important for Daycare Staff to connect with families?
When staff share positive bonds with children's families, it helps the staff feel more connected, valued, rewarded and appreciated. Staff can more easily respond to children's needs by understanding a child's relationship with their parents, carers and siblings. The positive outcomes of engaged parents are powerful: increased support for children's learning at home, empowered parents, and improved family well-being. Children see benefits like improved cognitive development and academic performance, better social-emotional development, and improved health.

Ep. 1 Building close childcare center relationships with the families of children who attend your childcare center is one of the biggest investments you can make in improving your childcare business.
Closer childcare relationships create better experiences for children – helping improve their overall experience, as well as their progress towards developmental milestones, building of social skills, and overall happiness.
In this episode, host Rosa Marie shares her firsthand experience of witnessing poverty and drug use during an outreach walk and its effects on the children she serves.
Tune in to hear her inspiring story and gain some insights on how to provide quality childcare in difficult circumstances.
"I don't think we really know what people need unless we have a real relationship with them." - Rosa Marie
An outreach walk can be a way to connect with people who may not otherwise seek help or know about the available services.
Daycare providers can help families access subsidies for childcare, health care, food assistance, housing assistance, or other benefits that they may be eligible for. You can also connect families with community organizations that offer counseling, mentoring, parenting education, or other forms of support like financial aid for summer camps.
Additionally, daycare providers can build trusting relationships with families by communicating regularly, respecting their cultural values and preferences, involving them in decision making, and recognizing their strengths. The best way to do this is by putting boots on the ground and sharing real-life experiences.
