On Sunday, June 5th, 1983, Bill Hughes drove the short distance from his home to the home of Peggy and Doug Ryen. Bill’s son, 11-year-old Chris, had a sleepover that night with the Ryens’ son, Josh. There was no answer at the front door and the Ryens’ car was missing. When he peeked in through a sliding glass door in the back of home, Bill thought what he was seeing was some sort of prank. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. Inside the home were the bodies of Doug, Peggy, and Jessica Ryen, and Bill’s son, Chris. Josh Ryen, the youngest boy, had somehow survived what turned out to have been a brutal massacre. Several months later, despite many lingering questions about the murders, a man was charged and ultimately sentenced to death. Was Kevin Cooper guilty of a quadruple homicide or had he been framed?

On February 26, 2016, Terry Sanderson was skiing at Deer Valley Resort in Park City Utah. That same day, Gwyneth Paltrow, her significant other, and their children were also skiing there. Just before noon, Terry and Gwyneth collided on the hill. Three years later, Terry Sanderson filed a lawsuit against the actor turned lifestyle influencer for $300,000 in damages. Gwyneth Paltrow countersued for $1. The case went to trial in 2023 to determine who was at fault for their ski hill collision.

Gwyneth Paltrow Ski Trial

Michelle O'Connell's death in 2010 is shrouded in mystery to this day. She was found dead from a gunshot wound, and her death was initially ruled a suicide. Over time though, questions arose due to her troubled relationship with her boyfriend, Jeremy Banks, who was also a sheriff's deputy in St. Augustine, Florida. Despite evidence suggesting foul play, the case was closed, leaving her family frustrated and seeking justice. The case gained national attention as it raised concerns about law enforcement bias and the handling of domestic violence cases. Michelle's family continues to fight for a proper investigation, hoping to uncover the truth.

The Mysterious Death of Michelle O'Connell (Suicide or Murder?)

On July 9th, 1993, at 1:40 a 911 call was placed by Russell Bennett Peterson. He told the operator that he and his girlfriend had a fight and that she had been shot, but he claimed to not know who shot her. Stephanie Wasilishin was the mother of two young children who tragically lost her life that night. It has been 30 years since Stephanie’s death, and justice has still not been served. Her older daughter, Nikki, has taken up the fight for her mother, and she is on a mission to find the answers that no one seems to want to provide.

The Murder of Stephanie Wasilishin

Thirteen-year-old Hailey Dunn went missing from her home two days after Christmas in Texas in 2010.  She remained a missing person until her remains were found in 2013.  Though her body was laid to rest in 2017, an arrest wasn’t made until 2021 and that person has since been released.  Hailey’s case is still open and unsolved fourteen years later.

The Murder of Hailey Dunn

Serving as a sheriff's deputy in Martin County, Florida, Gerard Schaefer led a double life, portraying himself as a dedicated officer while secretly engaging in gruesome acts. Schaefer was convicted of the first degree murders of two young women, Susan Place and Georgia Jessup. Investigators suspect that Schaefer was responsible for as many as thirty murders from the late 60s to the early 70s before his arrest and eventual conviction. During his incarceration, Schaefer penned short stories depicting the abduction and murder of women, some of which contained chilling details correlating with women who had been reported missing or bodies that had been found, adding a disturbing layer to the already gruesome nature of his crimes.
