We often talk about the good old days, but for most of the past 200 years, chinuch was only a fraction of what it is today. Dr. Henry Abramson shares with us the sad history of the early 19th century in Russia when Jewish children were either conscripted into the Russian Army at a young age for 25 years, or were sent to a government school where they had no Jewish education at all.

Today's chinuch system is far more superior than it ever was previously. Today's era requires us to shift our approach to how we teach.

Homeschooling has been growing in popularity over the past few years, and for many good reasons as you will hear in this episode.

While it might not be widespread, there are Jewish parents who choose to homeschool their children. Bethany Mandel is a Jewish mother of 4 kids who are close in age, and she's also a writer for various publications.

She shares with us her family's reasons for choosing to homeschool, and how much she loves doing it. We cover all the typical objections people raise, and she tells us how she doesn't find them to be an issue.

Education is often thought of as being anchored to past with not much innovation happening. On this episode we speak with educational veteran Yocheved Belsky who shares with us some of the amazing innovations happening in classrooms around the country. 

Yocheved gives us a glimpse into some of the technological advances that are being implemented in the educational space, and why Jewish schools have always been reluctant to give them a try.
