In this powerful episode of Chit & Chat; Encouraging One Another, I have the privilege of sitting down with Mandy Shaw, co-host of the Grief & Gratitude Podcast, for a deeply moving conversation about loss, grief, love, and finding purpose through unimaginable heartbreak.
Mandy opens her heart and shares the story of the passing of her 9-year-old son, Declan, and the journey she and her family have walked through since that heartbreaking loss. Her story is one of tragedy, but it is also a story of courage, love, hope, and choosing to help others who are walking through their own seasons of grief.
Today, Mandy is using her voice and her experiences to encourage families through the Grief & Gratitude Podcast, reminding people that they do not have to walk through grief alone.
My hope is that this conversation reaches the person who needs it most. Maybe you have experienced the loss of someone you love. Maybe you're walking alongside somebody who is grieving. Or maybe you simply need to be reminded that even in some of life's darkest moments, there can still be hope, love, community, and people willing to walk beside you.
Throughout this episode, I'm also honored to feature music from some wonderful independent artists:
Jody Rice
Ariel Franz
Shay & Michi
Kelley Cresswell
One of the things I love about this podcast is being able to give independent musicians another place for their music and their stories to be heard. These artists put so much time, heart, and passion into their craft, and I'm thankful to share their music with listeners around the world.
You'll also hear another Mental Minute, where I share a few encouraging words for wherever you may be in life today.
And I cannot say thank you enough to the local businesses that believe in this podcast and the message behind it. A huge thank you to our sponsors:

and our brand-new sponsor, Gavin's Electric!
These locally owned and operated businesses in the Kitsap County area, including Silverdale and Port Orchard, Washington, help make this podcast possible. Please consider supporting the businesses that support local voices and local communities.
And as always, a huge thank you to the magician behind the scenes, Paul Racey, who helps edit and produce the show and somehow brings all the pieces together!
At the heart of Chit & Chat; Encouraging One Another is a simple mission: this isn't about the likes, follows, or downloads. It's about encouraging one another. It's about sharing real stories, uplifting music, hope, positivity, and maybe helping make someone's day just a little bit better.
As 1 Thessalonians 5:11 reminds us:
“Encourage one another and build each other up.”
