Whats up Homies! I was very blessed to have been able to do a podcast with Randy Williams aka R-DUB! I grew up listening to this man on the radio all the time. I found out a lot more about his backstory and it was amazing to me. R-Dub had the will & drive to be in radio at an early age & he’s still going strong! He started his nationally syndicated radio program Sunday Night Slow Jams right here in Tucson, AZ.

He now records from his home studio in San Diego & and also has a goal of visiting every country in the world. I was so genuinely happy this whole podcast you can hear it in my voice. What’s up homies?! Welcome back, as you know my name is Miguel from Lower Arizona bringing you another addition of The Cholo Stereo Podcast. This month in the studio we have from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the one and only Jabee. This podcast was about two hours long filled with super dope content, I don’t even wanna give y’all any information I just want you to sit back and listen.

This podcast I was fortunate enough to talk to Pulitzer Prize Winning Photographer José Galvez. In my opinion José is a legend in the Chicano Community. He’s been around for a very long time giving speeches at many universities around the country & taking numerous iconic photos. Since the late 1960’s José has used black & white photography to document Chicanx/Latinx life in the United States. Galvez’s photographs have been exhibited in many museums including the Smithsonian. It was cool to listen to a veterano in the game talk about the state of the country right now. He gave some great advice for people coming up in the photography game & what it means to be in the moment as well as be behind the camera. José is currently living in North Carolina but used to live in Tucson. He said he might come back to live in Tucson, let’s hope he does! This month I had the opportunity to finally get to talk to my homeboy El Profé Mau Magaña. He is a Professor at the University of Arizona. Last October he gave an amazing lecture at The Fox Theatre in Tucson called “Hip-Hop Culture & it’s visual impact in Mexico”. It’s currently on YouTube & I highly recommend watching the entire video. He had a lot of great things to say & he’s coming out with a book very soon. He is an amazing human & I appreciate him blessing the show.

We talked about what she does as an activist, what she’s been through & currently going through and also her thoughts on 21 Savage getting locked up due to his immigration status & how hip-hop music is subtlety shedding more light on certain issues. Also We share our thoughts on the Cardi B situation & how the double standard of power appeared to me as a male & how we as men should take a step back, shut up for a minute & listen. What’s up y’all? This is Episode 2 of Cholo Stereo brought to you by Kiss of Smoke BBQ. On this second episode of the podcast I give my full endorsement to Lane Santa Cruz who is running for Tucson City Council Ward 1. Also on the podcast we will go in depth on the Tucson Hip-Hop Festival with my guest & long time friend Pike Romero aka Smashlames. He breaks down the events leading up to the main festival & why everyone is invited to come & participate in all the events leading up to the main day of the festival on March 9th 2019. We also get a little political with Pike although that’s not really his strong point I was really glad he talked a little bit about it with me. We also talk about why he hates beatboxing as a whole & why I’ve come to a realization of hating how the subculture of Cholo culture is being perceived to others who are not Chicano on social media. As you can hear this podcast sounds different from the last one. I got a new interface with some XLR microphone connections. We mentioned a lot of different artists in town doing great things & how sometimes our passion for our art can drive us to anger & success.
