In this episode of the Hello Lovely Podcast, we talk about how to feel powerful more often.
There are two parts to this:
Choose powerful thoughts
Soak in the goodness
As humans, our focus often goes to what’s not working and why we’re not good enough. Our brain is very good at coming up with those thoughts.
This episode is about resetting that on purpose.
Feeling powerful is not about your circumstances. It comes from what you’re thinking.
When you feel powerful, you take powerful action. You make decisions from a clear place. You are present, and you’re not stuck in criticism.
So how do you feel powerful?
You choose powerful thoughts.
Your brain is always offering thoughts. Many of them are disempowering by default:
I’m not good enough
This will never happen
Something’s wrong with me
Those thoughts create a feeling of being stuck.
You can choose different thoughts.
One way to do this is to think about what you would say to your best friend. What would you tell her about her ability, her strength, and what’s possible for her?
You can choose those same thoughts for yourself.
Some examples:
I figure things out
It’s going to be better than I imagine
I have everything I need in this moment
I can choose my thoughts
You can create your own list and practice thinking them.
The second part is soaking in the goodness.
When you feel a positive emotion like power, calm, joy, or relief, take time to feel it. Notice where it shows up in your body. Stay there for a moment.
Instead of rushing past it, let yourself experience it.
The more you do this, the more balanced you will feel. You’re giving attention to both your thoughts and how your body feels.
You can choose powerful thoughts and allow yourself to feel the emotions that follow.
