Tis the season for awkward and fun family hangouts and healthy (but many times very unhealthy) feasting. The year's 2019 and the activists of the world have had enough. It started with a few movements advocating for rights no one ever thought possible to waves of supporters across all oceans speaking with one hashtag. #MeTo and #TimesUp are just a recent version of conversations that have been happening but this time, there's a general hope that it will work. After the scathing report done by BBC Africa on 'Sex for Grades', we wanted to see how those conversations are being held here in Kenya and across Africa. Are we ready for changes? Are we ready to even talk (rationally) about these changes?

"I'm working for myself" and "Work for yourself" are two statements that evoke a sense of freedom. This freedom ranges from financial freedom or just the freedom to enjoy what you do or pick-and-choose what tasks to pursue. However, just like any job, being self-employed has its own stress factors. This week, we talk honestly about entrepreneurship and what it actually means in the climate we exist in. For many, this climate is restricted to industry and border-lines but with the advancement in technology, the climate can now refer to the world through the web. Wherever you go, the self-employed follow, but to what end? What is an entrepreneur? How should one go about being and staying one?

Being in a relationship to not being in one sometimes takes little effort. Normally, when someone decides to completely cut-off ties with another person without warning, it can leave a sense of  confusion, feelings of unfairness and resentment. Ghosting is something many have relied on, to leave relationships without having to explain themselves. Though it may seem necesarry to the person at the time, ghosting leaves nothing but bad feelings for everyone involved. It's an amazing time to be alive especially when you think about where gender roles were just a few decades ago: Mothers took care of the home, fathers provided. Unfortunately, raising children also fell into those categories leaving fathers and mothers in society with this expectetion to fill in a role, no matter the relationship between them. In this episode of Chop Maoni, we take a look at perceptions of fathers vs that of mothers in our society and how it has shaped how we react to various situations which are similar but we treat differently due to these aforementioned roles. Do you feel like there is a gap in how we view dads and moms when it comes to relationships with kids?

It's 2019 and gone are the days where playing with mud and sticks outside was cool. These days, with the internet and other modern comforts, our kids seem to know more about tech but less about how to treat each other. Following the unfortunate incident with the boy from Consolata School, we were forced to reflect and evaluate just how much our kids are actually exposed to and how they apply it to their lives without questioning.
