Chord Progression Podcast: The Gateway to New Rock and Metal Music

Today there is an artist coming on to the Chord Progression Podcast for the 4th time, but now with her new band, and bringing the brand new drummer with them as well. But for a band that is still cutting their teeth out there with new music and life on the road, what is going to help them succeed?

Well through an insane story that involves getting tattooed in a corn field during a music festival to test their drummer's ability to hang, and understanding of how band chemistry both on and off stage is necessary for a band's success, & understanding the importance of creating that fan connection live, we know one thing. This rock band is one that you will want to party with.

Nikollaj returns with the rock band CloZure to the Chord Progression Podcast, with the new drummer Brad as well. Getting you into a new rock band is what we do. On this episode, we talk about:

- Getting you to get to know CloZure's hard rock style, their insane initiation story of bringing Brad into the band as a new drummer, and the importance a strong bond has for a band's success, both on stage and off.

- How rock & metal has always adapted to world changes through its growth, artists, and delivery by not being fake in it's delivery.

- Why smaller shows are where the magic happens for a band, with both the style of show, the energy the artists & fans create, as well as the connectivity between the two that makes really special moments.

A returning artist with a new band is here for you today. Tap the subscribe button as we keep showing you more and more artists to get into.

Nothing captures the classic idea of the American Dream of going after your dreams, always willing to make a sacrifice for the betterment of that dream, and always willing to get better and improve. We know that the dream is not as strong as it once was in culture today, but when we find it, we really want to connect with it.

From starting in music with the support of his father and his brother, to making moves in life that will put him in a better position to make his dreams come true, and now releasing a brand new album in a brand new city that is dominated by another genre, we can connect with that story and get behind this artist. He is just like us, trying to make his dreams into a reality.

Ike from the garage rock blues band Coiler joins the Chord Progression Podcast today. With the new album "Stonejack" releasing on May 29th, we get you into the band, the man, and the story as we talk about:

- The backstory of Ike's start in music from the support and creative nature alongside his dad and his brother, being inspired by their abilities, and going after his dreams because the support was there.

- If Coiler will stand out in the Nashville music scene as the garage rock blues style doesn't fully mesh in with the city's country identity, but how Ike will use his abilities and learn from others to ensure he stands out.

- How the album "Stonejack" was created and how the backstory of it embodies the American Dream.

An artist to get behind because his story is just like all of ours. Tap the subscribe button for the full episode.

We know you are a fan of at least one of the bands on the following list; Motionless In White, August Burns Red, I Prevail, and Knocked Loose. We know there is something about those extreme and unclean vocals that draw in more and more fans every single day. But why? And will this last.

Today, we are with a man that has dedicated himself to helping so many vocalists who use unclean vocals to not only hit a larger range of sound, but a larger range of emotion presented through their vocal use. He knows this too because, he makes his own music in the same way. And he knows the key to making this a success... longevity.

David Benites from the Boston metalcore band Renesans and founder of the Extreme Vocal Institute, is on the Chord Progression Podcast with us today. With someone like this, we want to not only discuss his music, but his dedication to helping extreme vocalists get better and have the longevity required for a successful career. On this episode, we talk about:

- David working with many of your favorite vocalists to help them with the best extreme vocals that they possibly can create with the Extreme Vocal Institute, with the main goal of vocal longevity.

- Why unclean and extreme vocals have gained more mainstream popularity over the past few years, through a more raw & visceral emotional connection.

- How people are finding Renesans now & how Split Brow show the contained capture of wildly aggressive emotions in one song.

If there is someone that understands extreme vocalists best, it is David. Tap the subscribe button as we help you discover more great music and more great people in the rock & emtal world today.

It has always been a mission of the Chord Progression Podcast to bring you artists from all across the rock and metal spectrum, especially the new and upcoming ones that you should be checking out. It is our way of being able to ensure that rock and metal never die.

We had the pleasure of having Advents on the podcast 2 times in 2024. And then after that, it was like we never heard from them. We had been looking back at our guest list from years past and were wondering, what happened to them?

Well now we are in the middle of 2026, and we decided to find our answer to what happened to Advents. And there is no better time to figure out what happened to them because, we found out a lot that includes a new vocalist, new music, and a brand new album coming our way.

Joe and Tyler from the NYC Metalcore band Advents join the Chord Progression Podcast following the announcement of their new album "A Bitter Truth You Can't Undo" releasing on July 17th, 2026. With a new album coming, and a new lead singer as well, we get back into it with Advents as we talk about:

- The addition of Tyler as the new lead vocalist of Advents, and the importance band chemisty has for success when it comes to bringing in a new member into a band & writing new music.

- Writing "A Bitter Truth You Can't Undo" in two and a half weeks, and the battle between going with your gut or taking a lot of time to critique when writing new music.

- Why rock & metal will survive the age of streaming and AI intervention, the live show matters much more than they can replace.

Advents returning to the podcast, and we will get plenty more coming your way. Tap the subscribe button to ensure you discover more great bands & artists in the rock and metal world.

2 years ago, we brought on a band from Sweden that made us laugh and smile because they made a song about Matthew McConaughey that is wild, funny, and enjoyable on all levels. But there was so much more to their music than we realized. So with a new album coming out, we needed to run it back.

Today, we did run it back, but we got even deeper into their mixture of heavy music and what makes the band go. We got deeper to understand what makes them more dynamic on their new album, how a massively contrasting personal style between all the members work in harmony to create more dense music, and why it all works on the new album.

Andreas and Patrik of the Swedish metalcore band Self Deception return to the Chord Progression Podcast with their brand new album, One Of Us, releasing on May 15th. Dive into the album & the band with us as we talk about:

- The writing of "One Of Us" while on the road, with the purpose of connecting the recorded music with the live show, the live emotion, and integrate it fully into the new album.

- How different visions and mindsets from each member of the band contrast one another, but create a more total meatlcore sound through the chemistry and understanding of all of the members.

- "One Of Us" and giving you the full preview of it, from its darker lyrical content mixed with a more bouncy & upbeat instrumentaiton with individual influences flowing through each song naturally.

Make sure you dont miss out on this great band and the many others that are making their way to the Chord Progression Podcast. Tap the subscribe button for many more episodes like this.

Ever since we started the Chord Progression Podcast, one of our main goals to always help and support newer and younger artists get known and grow in rock and metal today. If we are not promoting the newer artists and putting focus on them, then the genre's never grow. However, we are not the only ones that have this in mind.

We have brought a record label to the podcast that is doing what they can to sign great new artists and give them the best deal possible to help them grow into the best and biggest artists they can. We have also brought on an online platform that is not only delivering new artists and their music to the music loving community, but to major players in the industry as well. Now... stay with me.. what if those 2 combined forces?

Peter from Manic Kat Records as well as Danny and Ben from BSB TV return to the Chord Progression Podcast, this time in a full partnership where Manic Kat now has a UK division, a division that is run by the guys from BSB TV. So let's get you to know about this partnership as we discuss:

- Why BSB TV and Manic Kat Records partnered with each other, with a common goal of helping promote younger artists, and help them succeed in the music industry today.

- BSB TV running the UK division of Manic Kat Records, and bringing the Manic Kat record deal opportinity to support more artists who deserve it, and treat them like they wanted to be treated when they were musicians.

- The reason it is overly important to create the best, high-quality merch, as on of the most important pieces to promote and sustain your band.

In March of 2026, we had the pleasure of having Brendon Small, the creator of Dethklok, on the Chord Progression Podcast to talk about 20 years of Metalocalypse. Seems like that episode need a litte bit of an epilogue.

So what should we do for that? How about connecting with a guitarist that is not only performing with Dethklok, but also other artists, and has her own music with a new album that came out earlier in 2026? I think that sounds right to us.

Guitarist Nili Brosh is on the Chord Progression Podcast today. She is on tour performing with Dethklok during the tour with Amon Amarth in 2026, and dropped her most recent album, Eventide, earlier in 2026. Discover her as we talk about:

- Performing with Dethklok, and how Nili's perception of performing with Dethklok is different than other artists, since she can see all of the crowds crazy interactions compared to other artists.

- Writing her new album "Eventide" and the sonic influences she was able to explore with her instrumental style, from synthwave, to math rock, and much more.

- How she manages being solo & performing with artists like Dethklok, Danne Elfman, & Cirque de Soleil.

While heavy music continues to be all of the rage, deathcore is a genre that is not slacking behind in terms of adding to the popularity. Stalwarts of the genre like Whitechapel keep growing, and massive bands like Slaughter to Prevail are playing in front of thousands of people, consistently. So the question is, who is next?

Whoever is next is going to need to show us what makes them special in the deathcore scene. They need to have an understanding of how to build up that anticipation and energy before the big breakdowns, while having a different sound and overall structure compared to others, or get lost in the noise. This band, has that chance to be THAT band that breaks out next.

Sofia from the New Jersey deathcore band Torn Open joins the Chord Progression Podcast. With the band releasing their new EP, Torn the F*** Open Vol. 2, releasing on May 1st, we dive into the band with Sofia by talking about:

- How Torn Open is leveling up their sound from their first EP to their second EP, through the use of greater band chemistry as well as writing through composed songs.

- The use of contrast to create an intensity increase throughout a deathcore song, that enegages fans and accelerates their internal energy.

- Their insane inspiration of live shows, that you can see at Milwaukee Metal Fest in 2026.

Haste The Day has been around pretty much since metalcore got its jump back in the early 2000's, creating music throughout the entirety of the decade. But in 2011, they split, as it seemed that there was no much futher progression in the metalcore world to be had. Of course an album came out back in 2015, but that has been it.

However, times change, and things change. As metalcore has become much more expressive and creative since October 2018 when Architects released Holy Hell, a reinvigoration of the want to make music thanks to a reunion show at Furnace Fest in 2023, and enjoying being together again, it's time to come back.

Stephen from the metalcore band Haste The Day is on the Chord Progression Podcast. As the band is set to release their new album, Dissenter, on May 1st, we get into it with Stephen as we talk about:

- Why Haste The Day broke up thinking that metalcore was over, realizing that the genre wasn't dead and coming back after a reunion show at Furnace Fest in 2023.

- Why the band feels less pressure making new music on Dissenter, able to have fun and not have their entire lives, and identities, tied up in the band anymore.

- If waiting to release quality music in 2026 is a better idea for a rock or metal artist than following along with the single dominated culture with the prominence of streaming.

A great comeback, enhanced with a great episode. Tap the subscribe button as more episodes like this are coming your way.
