Chord Progression Podcast: The Gateway to New Rock and Metal Music

Kevin sits down with Alice from Atwood, an alternative rock band from Milan, Italy. After Alice reached out to Kevin to get his take on their latest single, Ghost, Kevin listened to more of their music to see what their sound was like. Listen as the pair discuss how Atwood is so much more than just an alternative rock band, how they mix so many other influences in their music, and their mindset when it comes to playing live shows right after a pandemic.

We cannot lie, the mindset behind the shows following the pandemic is a unique perspective you won't find anywhere else.

On this episode, Kevin sits down with Jordan Pascual (and his 3 doggies) from Necessary Noise for a conversation you would swear would be between lifelong friends.

Listen as Jordan talks about leaving his home in Iowa to pursue his music dreams out in California, the current state and opinions on how live shows will return once the coronavirus pandemic passes, crazy concert stories involving Billie Eilish, and how much he loves his dogs.

Most importantly, Jordan talks about how the focus of his first albums is going to be about mental health and how coming to terms with things that happened to him in life shaped who he is today, and hopes that others will be inspired to better themselves through his musical journey.

On this episode, Kevin sits down with the members of Igneous Sons, a rock band out of Singapore. After the band contacted Kevin with their music and asked for a feature, they get plenty more than just that.

Listen as the guys talk about the rock and metal scene in Singapore along with other Southeastern Asian countries like Malaysia and the Philippines, how the use of a more prominent bass line gives the band a much more unique sound, and how they plan on taking more chances with their music as they begin to release more of it.

This episode is something special as Kevin sits down with the guys from MountainEye, an alt metal band from Amsterdam. Well, alt metal is not fully correct because this band is so much more than that. Watch and listen to see how they were all influenced by bands like Korn and Linkin Park, how their album, Roads Uncharted, has the alt metal style but it plays around with so many more styles, and their second upcoming album which already sounds like it is going to be one that will take the world by storm. With a sound that can blend into so many different subgenera of rock and metal, this is a band that you will want to keep tabs on as they rise through the ranks of rock and metal bands.

An interview unlike any other as Kevin sits down with Tiago, lead singer of the alternative metal band Nowhere To Be Found. Instead of the same boring questions you would get from most other interviews, these guys get into the real details. Find out how the band was able to get Matty Mullins to be featured on their lead single Traverse and how he contributed to the construction of the song, how the personal musical tastes of each member are helping create a unique debut album, and how they are growing the band with both patience in the long run and speed in the short one. You wouldn't think this was the first conversation they have ever had, but one between friends that have known each other for many years.

On this episode, Kevin sits down with Lela and Robin of Venues, a rock/post-hardcore band out of southern Germany. Post-hardcore and rock are their sound bases, but their use of elements from metalcore, pop punk, and emo make them anything but a typical post-hardcore band.

Listen and watch to find out about how the band discovered Lela after she was on stage with Steel Panther, why they decided to mix clean female vocals with unclean male screams on their songs, and how they are writing their second album following their fantastic first album Aspire. This is a fun one as Kevin sits down with all the boys from Gray Falls, a rock band out of Houston, TX. After reaching out following the podcast with Planet Mercury, all four members come on for a podcast filled with incredible insight and laughs. The guys go over coming together as a band, their new single "Sirens", and how they are continuing to grow the band during this pandemic in a way we have yet to hear any other band do. And then listen for Jaylon's "Analogy of the Month", a bunch of Family Guy and Always Sunny references, and a crazy music video idea.

After Kevin found their music from them liking one of their Instagram post (no lie), the band sits down and goes over how they became a band through Craigslist, how they found their drummer REO Speedwagon style (heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who...), and their crazy stories, with the best one involving a Banjo.

With the world being in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Kevin takes a look at what most bands and artists in the rock and metal world are doing in order to stay on the minds of the fans. He takes a look at the bands that are winning right now by doing more than just live-streaming here and there, and those who are losing right now by doing the bare minimum.
