Chris and Reggie's Cosmic Treadmill

From Feast to Famine... and back to Feast again!

The sophomore volume of Hickman's flagship is... uneven.  It starts off amazingly strong, with one of the seminal stories of this entire era, and the source for many of our podcast discussions... the introduction of the Crucible!

From there, he wastes a bunch of our time with the Brood, a "funny, ha-ha" with Broo eating an Egg, a Deadly Genesis continuity error that breaks one of the ONLY rules associated with the Resurrection Protocols... then Empyre cash-ins!  At least ONE of those Empyre cash-ins was fun to read!

This is an interesting assortment... I've often wondered how folks who ONLY read the flagship were "receiving" this new era -- here's a chance to find out!

A collection of episodes that... I can barely even remember performing!

We've got a lotta "versus" stuff this time out... Wolverine vs. Dracula, Karma vs. Dani Moonstar, and... if ya can believe it - Psylocke vs. Kwannon?!

A Devil's Reign tie-in, that feels more like an issue of X-Men than... most issues of X-Men!  That, unfortunately, isn't an indictment on its quality, however... as our titular heroes continue their de-evolution from actual characters to Bendisonian snark-bots!

We've got a great mailbag though!

And now for something completely different!

An issue in which our titular hero takes a backseat to the TRUE star of this half of the series... Moira McTaggert?!

Have you been wondering what she's been up to since her x-ile from Krakoa in Inferno #4?  Well... wonder no more, because we pick up with her right as she's gotten the boot!  It's as bat-spit insane as X Lives... but, with some continuity kvetches that yer humble host just can't get passed... past... whichever is the right word to use there!

Ya boy is also dealing with a hammering of seasonal allergies... so, apologies if I sound even worse than usual today!

We have finally arrived - the Reign of X (and the Reign of the HEAD of X) are firmly in the rear-view, and we can now move forward into the next phase of our Krakoan Epic!

Today... we discuss a bat-spit insane but wonderfully fun first issue of the XLADOW story, wherein our titular hero engages in some Quantum Leaping, mixed with some Assassin's Creeding, with just a dash of Days of Future Pasting.  I have NO idea where this might be headed... and, I can't wait to find out!

I'd love to hear your thoughts and theories on this!

X-Lapsed 3:16 says... it's time to wrap up the Reign of X!

Today we close out the Hickman Era with an issue that feels like it might be about 15% of what the original vision intended for it to be.  It's a fine, fun, and exciting read... but, that's not going to stop us from actually attempting to analyze it!

We got lots to talk about!

Plus - some great mailbag... and the X-Planation as to your humble host's persona non-grata'ness among the (XCCC) X-Men Content Creation Community!

Wrapping up volume 1 of the Marauders... with a season/series finale that establishes our status quo moving forward.  It's a bit piecey, and serves as a reminder of how uneven the back-half of this series has been!

It also ends on a cliffhanger... which everybody loves right before we leap into a brand-new #1, right?

Plus: An X-Tended Mailbag, This Week in X, and a look at what's headed our way from Marvel Previews (April, 2022)!

For the first time in two years... it's FALLEN ANGELS day here at the channel - and, if history is any indication, today's the episode even FEWER people will download and listen to!

Ah well... whattayagonnado?  Today we're compiling the story whose only value is that it accidentally (?) led to something pretty interesting in Hellions!  The art's interesting too... so there's that!

Anyhoo, it's three and a half hours of Fallen Angels... which is probably three hours and fifteen minutes longer than anyone else on the planet spent talking about it... possibly even combined!

Presenting, for the first time on the channel - the Head of X's New Mutants... without a sidebar trip to the Farm!

Join me for a shorter-than-usual "Triple Dip", where we cover the four-part New Mutants/Shi'ar/Starjammers tale... only four chapters... but, there's plenty of nonsense waiting for ya if'n ya decide to press play!

Welcome back to the flagship... aka the ONLY book in the entire Marvel Universe that's attempting to pay attention to the fact that superfolk die and come back to life with insane regularity... which, is also why this story doesn't quite stick the landing!

Join your humble frustrated host, as he attempts to get past that and enjoy the issue for what it is!

Plus - Mailbag!
