We couldn’t always afford going to the movies when I was growing up.

So my brother and I would spend some Saturday or Sunday afternoons with our grandparents.

They loved westerns. John Wayne. Bonanza. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

Clean, wholesome classics, where good guys wore white hats and hunted up bad men to put ‘em in jail or find a tall oak tree.

Which made me a fan.

Remembering sitting on the couch next to Mamaw, under a quilt she made, shelling pecans and sneaking more than made it back to the kitchen for future pies.

Maybe that’s why I like Curtis Long so much.

He puts out clean classic old west adventures that take me back to a simpler time.
