As the writer of Hebrews closes his letter, we are reminded of several encouragements toward christian love through the lenses of hospitality, honoring one another in romantic relationships and finding true contentment in what we have. Are you inclusive and loving of strangers the same way you are with your friends? Do you appropriately respect the gift of sex? Sometimes we see the God of the Bible as someone so unapproachably holy that we can't fathom ever belonging in Heaven with Him for eternity. But did you know God eagerly awaits our response to His call to be in His family no matter what we've done — AND still remains holier than we can imagine? Perhaps you've never understood the real offer of Jesus as our mediator, and how you can belong with a God who is supposed to be full of grace but is still righteously judging all of our transgressions.

Hear Asher's teaching on Hebrews 12:18-29 and the important distinctions that the writer of this passage makes between the historic view of God from Mt. Sinai and the offer God makes through Jesus paying for our sins and calling us to a future ("Mt. Zion")!

The christian life is a "race" that is difficult. This passage of Hebrews encourages us to not grow weary. If you're struggling with escapism or throwing in the towel, or your tempted to dig in and solve life's problems on your own by over-fixating on the burden, you need a gentle reminder that you're a child of the God of the universe. Join Nathan as he exhorts us in "grit" (fighting the flesh) and community (depth in our relationships).

Ben's back with part 2 of this faith-defining passage of the New Testament, Hebrews 11:17-12:2, which helps us define what faith is in the face of the things faith isn't. It's a beautiful picture of how we can have confidence, peace, conviction and action as faith-filled people of God. Last week we learned from the stories of Noah, Abraham and Sarah. This week we add the stories of Joseph and Moses to Abraham's legacy.

Here are some of our take-aways concerning faith through this passage's references of these storylines:

• Faith is not blindly affirming Christianity for the hope of blessing and favor; but faith is confidence in a God you can't fully see yet.
• Faith is not positive self-talk to make yourself feel more happy or less anxious; but faith is resting in promises that you realize you may never see this side of eternity.
• Faith is not doing moral things to earn credits with the "afterlife judge;" but faith is living your life in a relationship with an almighty, yet personal God.
