I. Give thanks for the goodness of God.

As We Go … Count your blessings and continue to serve God with a grateful heart for He is good and His love endures forever.

Genesis 17 — The Son of Promise and the

Circumcision of the Heart

I. God’s everlasting covenant with

Abraham promised to provide the

inclusion of a multitude of believers

from the Gentile nations.

II. Circumcision has never been a

condition for salvation but rather serves

as an outward sign for the set apart

household of God. [Genesis 17:9-14]

III. Circumcision of the flesh means

absolutely nothing without the

regenerating work of the Holy Spirit

and the circumcision of the heart.

[Deuteronomy 30:1-6, Romans 2:25-29]

IV. Isaac is a prophetic shadow picture of

Jesus in that he was conceived

supernaturally as the beloved son of

his father — the seed of the woman

and son of promise — through which

God would redeem the world.

[Genesis 17:15-27]

As we Go … Plead with the Holy Spirit to search the depths of your heart, convict you of sin, and cut away the desires of the flesh.

Genesis 16

The God who Hears Me and Sees Me

I. We are most tempted to doubt God and take matters into our own hands when we forget that His ways are not our ways and His timing is always perfect. [Genesis 16:1-4]

II. Sin will always yield painful consequences and damage our most valued relationships in life.

[Genesis 16:4-6]

III. Despite our bad choices, God is full of mercy and compassion and comes to find us and comfort us in our most desperate times of need. [Genesis 16:7-10]

IV. Our God hears us when we cry out to Him and sees us when we feel invisible to the rest of the world, knowing us better than anyone yet still loving us more than everyone. [Genesis 16:11-16]

As we Go … No matter how far you’ve run, turn to Jesus today — the One who hears you and sees you and knows you and loves you!

The Promised Land — Genesis 15:7-21

• The LORD cut a covenant with Abram

and distinctly bound Himself to the

Promised Land as His own treasured

possession. [Genesis 15:1-11]

• The Promised Land is the spiritual and

geographical epicenter of earth, as the

most sought after and fought over piece

of real estate in the universe.

[Genesis 15:12-21]

• The LORD promised that one day He

will gather all of His people from exile,

bring us back home, and give us this

land as an everlasting possession in the

Kingdom of Christ. [Genesis 17:5-8]

• As We Go …

As we live as strangers and exiles in this

world, let us look forward to the day that

we will inherit the Promised Land and be

at home with the Lord forever.

Genesis 14:18-24 —

The Mystery and Ministry of Melchizedek

•Melchizedek represents the eternal

order of prophet, priest, and king,

ordained by God from the beginning.

•God separated these three offices

among the tribes of Israel, as a

temporary solution to a permanent

problem — the holiness of God.

•Jesus is the only One who meets all the

qualifications as the Word made flesh,

King of kings, our great High Priest

forever in the order of Melchizedek.

•Now that Christ has come, He has

authenticated God’s word, given us

kingdom authority, and given us direct

access to His throne in heaven!

As We Go …

Like Melchizedek, we have become a royal priesthood in Christ and have been commissioned to bless the world with the good news!

Walk by Faith — Not by Sight

Genesis 12-13

• Like Abram, we are called to walk by

faith as wanderers in this world,

awaiting our future inheritance in the

land of Promise.

[Genesis 12:4-9, 13:14-18]

• Like Abram, we often make decisions by

leaning on our own understanding, but

the LORD will direct our steps in the

end.

• Like Lot, it is tempting to walk by sight

and fall in love with the world, moving

dangerously close to the edge of sin.

As We Go …

Walk by faith by keeping your eyes and setting your mind on the hope of heaven above, where all the promises of God are yes and amen in Christ Jesus!
