Most choices we make are inconsequential - choosing what to wear is not life-defining. From what I see, it may be highly questionable, but not life-defining. Other choices are life- defining: Who/when to marry, what one does with Jesus Christ is life-defining. When you choose Jesus, you choose a kingdom kind of life. Colossians describes the spiritual formation to take place in one’s life and what it looks like to live in His kingdom.

If you were wanting God to shape your life like a potter shapes a pot, Colossians is your book, it help us choose what God wants us to choose. Colossians is written by Paul from a prison cell. At one time, Colosse was a leading city in Asia Minor, but by the first century, it had lost its luster and became second-rate to the cities around it. So they were already thinking, “We’re not as good as those other cities.” Then a guy named Epaphroditus plants a church in Colosse and they start thriving. So Paul writes and says, “As a new church, as a growing church, as a church facing new challenges, you are going to be making some life- defining choices you. The first one is where will you choose to place your hope.”

AHA - “A spiritual awakening where we discover something we had never seen before”. The problem is we live in the country of the blind. God opens our eyes, we see, but there are people at work, in school, in our family, who think we need to be cured of our sight.

An AHA moment is when one is awakened to something new. By mere definition, the need to awaken means there is something asleep. Many times, the people who need to awaken are the only one’s who don’t realize it. So what we’re praying for at CHRIST Church is if that’s you, that you might awaken to a God moment that will change your life.

Sometimes, you read the God’s Word and don’t know what you’re looking for, it doesn’t making sense, then the power of the Spirit and God’s Word intercedes and our eyes are open. What do you do next? The story of the prodigal son teaches us.

We’ve all experienced an AHA moment, that moment that changes everything. My favorite part of being a pastor is hearing people’s AHA moment. It’s when a person realizes he/she is a sinner, separated from God. But God sent Jesus to bridge the gap so we could have a relationship with the Father, and they are baptized into Jesus.

Sometimes names were given or changed to describe events that took place in their lives. Abram's name was changed to Abraham meaning “Father of Nations,” because that's what he would become. So imagine the anticipation Israel felt 750 years before the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ, Isaiah prophesied concerning Him. The people of Israel knew His names would be descriptive.
