Most of us are comfortable with living for Jesus but we find speaking about Jesus far more difficult. When the spotlight is on us at the café, or dinner table, or school gates – we can often be lost for words and lose our confidence.

This can leave us feeling discouraged. Why is the last and most important command that Jesus left his disciples, namely the great commission, also seemingly the most difficult?

This passage of scripture forces us, as the readers, to stop and consider how God has provided for, and blessed us, but also warns us of what will happen if we do not. If we don’t stop and remember all that God has done, we will quickly forget God and become proud (v12-14).

Do you open the Bible each day (or open your Bible app!)? Jesus said that the wise person is the one who hears his Word, and puts it into practice – building their life on solid ground. As a church, we believe that we will glorify God by being Bible-believing – that is being shaped by God’s Word in every way.

Do you love Jesus?  That’s the only question that really matters.  Of course, it assumes that you are aware of his love for you, that you have experienced his love, that you know that “we love, because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19.  Jesus came to earth, lived the perfect life, died a sacrificial death, and conquered the grave – all for you!  And now he asks, “Do you love me?”  It was the same question that he asked Peter three times – and Peter was able to answer, “Lord, you know I love you”.  And so Jesus recommissioned him to feed his sheep, to build the church.
