Hurt, fear, and anger make forgiveness difficult. As we examine Jesus' words "Receive the Holy Spirit" and "If you forgive anyone's sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven," we learn the importance of self in the process of healing as well as knowing how to extend to others.

Humility tells us to be “right-sized.” Anxiety tells us “we can control this.” In the passage, we see a people going through incredibly hard circumstances. In turn, they are given a word of admonishing to stay right-sized, wait it out, and let God handle the outcome. A timely word for us today, as well.

More often than not, tragic times convince us of only more tragedy, but there are things to be seen and experienced that can give us strength and hope.
