Joy is the nature of God. It is therefore the atmosphere of the eternal state. God wants us to have this joy within us to an unspeakable level of glory. This joy is the expressed love of the Spirit of God in us which is our strength.

The peace we hear about at the birth of Christ is a peace that is found in the messiah Jesus. He is our peace and there is no other. This peace is a peace that transcends emotion and intellect. Biblical peace is unrelated to circumstances; it is a goodness of life that is not touched by what happens on the outside. Christ’s peace destroys the authority attached to chaos.

As we celebrate the first week of Advent we turn to the Saviors birth to find hope. Hope is an imperishable seed that God promised from the beginning of time and is extended through us unto Christ’s return.

We complain about everything; people, places and things. We have become a society of complainers. We rate others on our expectation of perfection according to performance but Biblical perfection means “wholeness” not performance. We must stop rating others by performance through our expectations but by grace as each of us is being made whole.

We need to learn the three keys to breaking the spirit of complaint.

The first rule of western Christianity is self-preservation,” but the first rule of Jesus’ kingdom is “self-sacrifice.” If you don't love Jesus more than your own life then Satan has us beaten. You cannot overcome the devil without the third element; to love not your life unto death.
