As we continue our advent series, we looked at how Jesus came as a King with a Kingdom.

This week we started our Christmas Series: Rescue. For many, this is the time of year for Santa, gifts, lights, and the birth of Jesus. Many hear Jesus and a picture of a nativity pops in their mind. We see a cute baby in a manger with farm animals surrounded by shepherds, wisemen, and angels. Is that all Christmas is about?

We spent today unpacking one of the most famous Psalms in the world...Psalms 23. While most often quoted at funerals, we saw that King David's words are very much for the living as we are challenged to trust the good Good Shepherd more.

We spent time in Psalms 37 today looking at David writing about how we function when looking out into a dark world. When it comes to functioning with a life of thanksgiving, how we follow the Good Shepherd matters.

As we near the finish line of our study through the Gospel of John, we spent our time today looking at Jesus betrayal, arrest, sham trials, and Peter's denial. What we took away is that Jesus wasn't what anyone expected and everyone responded in different ways: some betrayed, some convicted, some denied. In many ways, people are the same today when it comes to how the understand Jesus.

As we continue our study through the Gospel of John, we were able to spend time unpacking the prayer of Jesus on the night He was betrayed. Jesus's Prayer consists of what was most important to Him knowing that we would be crucified the next day.

As we finish chapter 16 of the Gospel of John, Jesus tells us that this world offers tribulations, but "In Him" there is Peace. Peace is what we all long for and desperately need. We spent time looking at how each member of the Godhead contributes in our peace.
