James, in his closing section of this letter, wants his readers to understand the power of prayer and the importance of confession, repentance, and restoration within the Christian community.

James 5:13-20

James is encouraging believers to persevere through suffering with patience and to trust in God’s promise of the second coming of Christ, when true justice will reign, drawing inspiration from the examples of the prophets and Job.

Life is a gift from God. So, everything we have belongs to God, our possessions, money, wealth, property, jobs, businesses, all of it belongs to God, and how we manage them matters to God.

Christians must always understand the foolishness of boasting and making plans without acknowledging God's sovereignty and the brevity of life.

Inner conflict and misdirected desires, stemming from a lack of submission to God and a pursuit of worldly pleasures, lead to strife and conflict within the Christian community, and James calls for humility, repentance, and submission to God as the solution.  

James 4:1-12

By their good conduct, Christians should demonstrate heavenly wisdom rather than worldly wisdom. Specifically, they will exhibit purity and peacefulness rather than jealousy and strife. 

The tongue is the best measure of Christian maturity because it is so powerful and naturally untamable and reveals the condition of one’s heart.

James 3:1-12

A truth that James emphasizes in this text, and that the Word of God teaches throughout, is that what we do reveals who we are.

James 2:14-26

Christians must not discriminate either in favor of or against anyone based on their social status because that behavior is inconsistent with God’s law of love. Instead, they must live in ways that anticipate the Judgement Day, demonstrating God’s law of love to all and His grace to believers.
