The Christian life is like a race. Maximum effort is needed because we haven't arrived at spiritual perfection. Following Godly examples is how we run effectively.

We hold on to the promise that we as Christians will share in Christ resurrection. Our bodies will be made like his and live forever with him. However, we must not forget that to have a share in his Resurrection we must also share in his Sufferings.
