As Ecclesiastes is all about the human experience, a good portion of the book deals with something that takes up a large portion of our lives - work. Even in the first few verses, Solomon wonders what we gain from our "labors and toil under the sun", and it initially appears that he has a very pessimistic attitude about this necessary part of our lives. However, if we have a proper understanding of how our relationship with work has been affected by sin, we can move beyond a sense of hopelessness in our work and see it in light of the Gospel. In the episode, Daniel and Robert mention several great resources that can give us some practical insight into how we can apply this knowledge to our 9-5s. The first link below is to an Amy Sherman article on The Gospel Coalition that deals with the biblical theology of work, and the second is to a Tim Keller book entitled "Every Good Endeavor" on the same subject.
