Brothers, pray for us as well. — 1 Thessalonians 5:25

Jesus says you have to become like a little child to enter the kingdom. That doesn't mean childish; it means childlike — dependent, trusting, and aware that you can't provide for yourself. A child doesn't earn his place in the family; he's born into it. You don't enter the kingdom by your merits; you enter by new birth. So stop trying to qualify yourself.

Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power. — 1 Corinthians 15:24

The fear of the Lord sounds intimidating, but it actually produces strong confidence. When you're rightly related to God — in awe of His holiness, trusting His character — you don't have to be afraid of anything else. His children have a place of refuge. The one who fears God has nothing else to fear. It's the only fear that sets you free from every other fear.

keep yourselves in the love of God as you await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you eternal life. — Jude 1:21

Paul makes an astonishing claim: you are the temple of the living God. Not a building made with hands, but you — the people of God — are where He dwells by His Spirit. He said He would dwell in us and walk among us, and now He does. The God who filled the temple with His glory makes His home in you. You don't go to church to meet God; you are the place where He lives.

The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. — Romans 6:10

This is a dangerous verse to rip out of context. It’s not a vending machine promise. When you delight yourself in the Lord, He shapes your desires to match His. “Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps. 37:4). The promise is that when God is your greatest delight, what you want is what He wants—and He’s already committed to giving that.

At that moment the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split. — Matthew 27:51

Fear and love can't live in the same house. Perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. If you know the love of God in Christ, the terror of judgment has been removed. He who believes in Him is not condemned. You don't need to be afraid of God — not because He's harmless, but because His love has dealt with everything you'd be afraid of.

What, then, is the advantage of being a Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? — Romans 3:1

This is the argument that silences every doubt. He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all — how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things? If God gave the greatest gift, will He hold back the smaller ones? Your daily needs, your future, your fears — they're all covered by the logic of the cross. The Father didn't hold back His Son. He won't hold back anything that's truly good for you.

All the days of the oppressed are bad, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast. — Proverbs 15:15

The Lord watches over your going out and your coming in, from this time forth and forevermore. This psalm of ascent was sung by pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem, and it's still true for every pilgrim today. You're never outside His care. Every step you take is under the watchful eye of the Keeper of Israel who never slumbers. That's not a small comfort — it's everything.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. — John 17:16

The prophet calls for something deeper than religious performance: rend your heart, not your garments. Tearing clothes was an outward show of repentance that could be faked, but God wants the real thing — a broken and contrite heart He will not despise. He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Don't settle for the appearance of repentance; let God have your heart.

It is like the dew of Hermon falling on the mountains of Zion. For there the LORD has bestowed the blessing of life forevermore. — Psalm 133:3

Paul ends his great chapter on love by naming three things that last: faith, hope, and love. Prophecies fade, tongues cease, knowledge passes away — but these three abide. Faith holds onto Christ. Hope reaches forward to what's promised. Love binds it all together.

For the Mighty One has done great things for me. Holy is His name. — Luke 1:49

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. That's a comfort if you know whose righteousness you're standing in. It's not your own patchy righteousness; it's the perfect righteousness of Christ credited to you. Because you're in Him, the Father looks at you with the same love He has for His Son. His eyes are on you — not to catch you slipping, but to keep you and hear you when you call.
