Christians might be the only Bible some people will ever read. As a follower of Christ, your life can be an open book to help someone else– perhaps not a perfect book, but a real one so others can see what faith and love look like. Even though a Christian might face ridicule and rejection for sharing their faith, God is still at work through it– shining his light and making history in the lives of people.

How can we think of Christmas without thinking of home? We want this message to be one that blesses every home and family as we look into the Psalms– the worship songs of the Old Testament. 

Music around Christmas time has a way of making us feel happy and sad emotions. The season is happy for so many reasons, and yet it can be so painful at the same time. What are the songs on your Christmas playlist? Do they evoke feelings of tenderness? Are they silly? Or just plain rockin’ fun? Whatever it is for you, this series will connect us to familiar melodies of the season in a new way. 

This message brings us to the final belief statement in the Apostles’ Creed – “I believe in life everlasting.” Living forever isn’t necessarily good unless the quality of your life is good. That’s what this last statement is all about, life that is eternal in quality and quantity.

The Creed is a summary statement of what the Apostles, Christ’s earliest followers, believed and taught. “I believe in the resurrection of the body” is the statement we’re exploring in today’s message. It begs the question, what happens when we die?

Forgiveness may be the most extraordinarily difficult act any one of us may ever experience in our lives. Forgiveness is essential for life. We need it like we need breath in our lungs. Yet, on the other hand, forgiveness also confronts our faith and forces us ask ourselves: do I really believe in this God who claims to wholly forgive me and then calls me to do the same with others?

What comes to mind when you hear the word Catholic? What about the word Saint? Both words are much misunderstood in our culture, but they were part of the original language of the Apostles’ Creed. So what did those words mean in the Apostles’ teaching?

The next section of the Apostles’ Creed we’re looking at is the belief in the Holy Spirit. He is God’s power source available to every believer in Christ who wants to see their lives transformed, but sometimes when people think of the Holy Spirit they think of something spectacular – with signs, speaking in tongues, or doing weird things. So what does a belief in the Holy Spirit really mean?

“Don’t judge me.” How many times have you used that phrase? We have a thing about judging, don’t we? As we continue looking at the Apostles’ Creed, this is probably the most unpopular topic we will address, but judgment is part of the Christian faith, so what is it all really about?

God’s Spirit makes us more aware of circumstances. Whether it’s the shape our world is in or the problems we’re personally facing, there’s a reason the Holy Spirit make us aware of all this, and that’s to help redeem and restore us. He meets us in the mess and then lifts us up to know victory.
