Jesus warns us not to be distracted by what looks impressive, but instead to look for what is true, good, and real by examining the “fruit” a person’s life produces. Rather than pursuing success, influence, or the appearance of being a good Christian, God’s agenda is to transform us so that we increasingly become like Jesus and bear good fruit through loving and serving others. The good news is that we don’t produce this fruit through our own effort, it grows through trusting Jesus, surrendering our lives to him, and allowing his sacrificial love to transform us. 

The sermon explores Jesus’ teaching about the narrow and wide paths in Matthew 7, emphasizing that the narrow path is not about perfect behavior but about a transformed heart and a life rooted in Jesus. The wide path can be tempting because it promises fulfillment through success, possessions, relationships, comfort, and approval, but these things ultimately cannot provide the life and purpose we seek. Following Jesus may be harder and less traveled, but He is the way to true and abundant life, inviting us to trust Him and keep walking, even when the path is difficult or we lose our way. 

Jesus’ words to “ask, seek, and knock” are an invitation to persistent prayer; not a promise that God will give us everything we want, but an assurance that our loving Father will give what is good according to his wisdom, timing, and will. Through the Holy Spirit, God meets us in our weakness, confusion, and unanswered prayers, even when we feel distant or unable to find the right words. As we trust God’s care for us, we are also called to love others actively and empathetically, treating them as we would want to be treated. 

This sermon explores Jesus’ command in Matthew 7 not to judge others, clarifying that He is not rejecting moral discernment but warning against condemnation, pride, and contempt.
