The gospel of Matthew was written to us - the church. And Matthew's main point from beginning to end is Immanuel - Christ is always with us.

What is the human soul- What are its properties and characteristics- Does scripture affirm the human soul- How do we respond to modern scientific claims which argue that characteristics normally attributed to the human soul are rather just material products of the mind-

How does the apostle Paul comfort and encourage the church in times of tribulation and suffering- He does so by going to the giant doctrines of God's absolute sovereignty and the golden chain of our redemption that began in eternity past and will be completed in eternity future.

When we feel alone- when we're surrounded by unfaithful companions, we don't just need better friends, or a better church, or easier circumstances. What we need is a stronger, simpler faith in the trustworthiness of God's word and his promised presence with His people.

In contrast to various forms of gnosticism and dualism, as well as the Roman Catholic doctrine of concupiscence, mankind was created 'good', as our material, human bodies are inherently good, with nothing inferior, or to be ashamed of. Here we consider why this is such an important truth to affirm.

Why does it matter whether or not there was a historic Adam and Eve- It matters because without a historical Adam, the goodness of creation, the doctrine of original sin, and the historicity and redemptive work of Jesus Christ are all undermined.

Where and how are we tempted to run away when life gets difficult- Where does our ultimate security lie- Here in Psalm 11, David's life is in danger, and society is crumbling around him. But singing of the rule and reign of God, and clinging to His word and promises, David's confidence is in the Lord.

God not only cares about our behavior, but His law also addresses our desires. The 10th commandment exposes our fundamental unbelief and discontentment in God's provision for us, but for the obedience and blood of Jesus Christ in our place.

Have we become comfortable with subtle forms of lying, misrepresentations, and half-truths- In a culture of fake news, social media image, and online slander, how does this commandment call us to speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth- The answer is only found in Christ, truth itself, and the truth-giving power of the Holy Spirit.

What is the distinction between general and special revelation- What are the limits of each- And how do they coincide and help lead us to the truth in relation to morality and ethics-
