Homily given at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, October 28, 2012, the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church. In the first reading, the prophet Jeremiah reminds the people that their land would be protected by God only to the extent that they stayed faithful to Him. We, like the blind Bartimaeus in the Gospel, need to do our part, calling on the Lord, trusting Him to act, and then following Him. We, too, have been given a wonderful land, but we must do our part. Fr. Ed urges us to take the effort to form our consciences according to the teachings of the Church, to pray, and to vote pro-life and pro-religious freedom.
Key words: pro-life, religious freedom
