Luke 6 gives us a glimpse of the Kingdom Jesus has come to bring. The God whose holiness made Sinai tremble comes down and stands among ordinary, broken, needy people—and instead of keeping his distance, he brings healing, freedom and life. In this message we hear Jesus' promise to everyone who comes to him with broken hearts and empty hands - the poverty, hunger, grief and pain we experience now will not be the final word. Jesus spends the night praying before choosing the twelve apostles. He doesn't choose the impressive, the powerful or the finished. He chooses ordinary, flawed people whose future he already knows—including Judas. And before these men have any idea what lies ahead, Jesus is already bringing their names before his Father. The same Jesus who prayed for his disciples on the night before he called them now sits at the right hand of the Father and prays for his people. The fears of modern life and not knowing what is true, is nothing new. 3000 years ago David faced the same issues and found Hope in the abiding and truthful Word of God.

As Jerusalem was to the Psalmist, so is the Church to the Christian. Bob opens up this lovely psalm showing us why the believer can share the psalmist's delight and echo his words, "I was glad when they said to me, let us go to the house of the LORD"

Jesus is King and he will come to judge in rightoeusness and make all things well. While we wait, he sows seeds of light and joy in his people to harvest when he comes.

Of all people, it's hard to imagine David, chosen & anointed by God as Israel's king in such despair that he feels like God has forgotten & forsaken him.
