              • The kind of sacrificial behavior as Jesus demonstrated
                • Gave up – John 3:13
                • Stepped down
                • Suffered – Luke 9:21-22
                • Gave all
                • Gave His life – I Timothy 2:5-6
                • How can these be demonstrated by a husband toward his wife?
                  • Selflessness
                  • Sacrifice
                  • Overall role of husband is that of the leader of the family
                    • Position is that of head
                    • Position naturally implies that there is a following
                    • Wife’s Attitudes Toward Her Husband
                      • A leader of a “different kind”
                        • The best leader is a great follower – is in subjection
                          • To government authority – Romans 13:1-5
                          • To family leaders over us – Luke 2:51
                          • To fellow workers in Christ – I Corinthians 16:15-16 (Galatians 2:4-5)
                          • To our employers – Titus 2:9-10
                          • In other words, Christianity does not undo the relationships of this life – all subjective relationships continue – Ephesians 5:21
                          • Qualities of a good follower (as a wife to a husband – Ephesians 5:22-24, 33)
                            • Strives for excellence – I Peter 2:12; Proverbs 31:10
                            • Willing and eager to work – Proverbs 31:13
                            • Ready to help – trusted advisor, assistant, aide – Proverbs 31:11
                            • Optimistic toward the future – Proverbs 31:25
                            • Accepts responsibility
                            • Teaches from her experience to others – Titus 2:3-5
                              • By example
                              • By instruction
                              • Respectful – Ephesians 5:33
                                • Has purpose – I Peter 3:1-6
                                • What is it?

                                  • In attitude

                                    • Direct

                                    • How does one show it?
                                      • Treatment of husband
