It might be defined as that by humans, but God's definition is much different. Wikipedia defines the church as: A church building, church house, or simply church, as a building used for Christian worship services and other Christian religious activities. The term is used to refer to the physical buildings where Christians worship and also to refer to the community of Christians. Sometimes it is used as an analogy for the buildings of other religions.

Church in Greek Εκκλησία - Ekklisía

• Latin ecclesia, from Greek ekklesia, where the word is a compound of two segments: "ek", a preposition meaning "out of", and a verb, "kaleo", signifying "to call" - together, literally, "to call out". 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 But Jesus came to make a new temple where his holy spirit would be held. Each Christ follower would be the temple of God. His body was the new covenant and a church building was no longer needed.

Matthew 16:18 NLT “Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means “rock”), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.”

Acts 17:5 & 6 ESV “The Jews drug Jason out of his house, accusing him of being the center of the trouble after not finding Paul and Silas”

Acts 2:42  ESV All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper) and to prayer.

Acts 20:28 ESV Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God,[fn] which he obtained with his own blood.

Ephesians 3 10-11 NLT God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord

Brian C joins Nick and Aaron to dive deeper into the Fear of God. In this episode they break down our Christian walk down into three parts and how each part relates to the Fear of God. We can be tossed around in our walk but our goal is to stay centered in His truth.

Step 1 Trembling  Fear:

• Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It's the beginning of understanding, the beginning of prudence, which is thought or care about a specific thing."

Step 2 Fear of Outcome:

• Psalm 128:1,4 "Blessed are all who fear the Lord, and walk in obedience to Him ... Yes, this will be a blessing, for the man who fears the Lord."

Step 3 Reverence for God:

• Psalm 115:11 "You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord. He is their help and their shield."
• Prov. 14:26 "In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have refuge."

As Brian pointed out we may get tossed around between these different stages, but we need to remember that God is in all of them. Your walk is just that: God breathed and unique to you and there is something great about that.

In this episode we discuss the reverence fear of God. This type of fear is having a deep respect, an awe of his power and authority over our lives. When we can separate ourselves from our pride and Love God on this level we will see God move in our lives.

Hebrews 12:28 Amp “Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, and offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship with reverence and awe;”

‭‭Job‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Eliphaz to Job “Doesn’t your reverence for God give you confidence? Doesn’t your life of integrity give you hope?”

‭‭Job‬ ‭23:10-12‬ ‭NLT “But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside. I have not departed from his commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food.”

John 18 In this chapter we see Peter go from fearing God to having a complete reverence for Jesus. Even though he had walked with Jesus for a number of years, it wasn't until he denied him three times and the roaster crowed that he really got it.

Fear of God- Trembling Fear part 1 of 3

If God is Love then why do we have this Trembling fear or Fear of his wrath?

Psalms 33:8 NIV “Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him.”

Exodus 20:18 NIV “When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance.”

Romans 6:23 NIV — For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
