Many of these people who are being targeted and harmed are biblical Christians. Yet few know much about their plight, and far too few have raised their voice on their behalf.

So what exactly is going on in South Africa? What do Christians need to know about what their spiritual brothers and sisters in Christ are enduring?

Louis Boshoff, a South African Christian, joins the Christian Emergency Podcast to answer these questions and more. MBBs – or Muslim Background Believers – are Christianconverts who often suffer much when they choose to follow Jesus Christ. Not only do they risk many trials, but they often have few champions. When persecution strikes them, often no one bats an eye or says a word.

Many MBBs have disappeared into prison cells. Authorities often presume no one cares about them and they’re forgotten. But that is not true. The Triune God loves them and sees them. And so must we as the Church.

On this episode of the Christian Emergency Podcast, we look into one such case of a Christian convert being thrown behindbars for his faith. We will share details about this man, explore his case and see how the patterns are similar to developments in other countries.

Saeed Abu Mustafa, an Egyptian, became a Christian in 2016. Pressures arose after his conversion out of Islam, and heeventually sought safety in Russia. While there, Saeed debated with Islamic scholars about Islam and shared about his Christian faith. Soon pressures arose against him in Russia too, and he was eventually deported back to Egypt. There,security services arrested Saeed and placed him in prison. As of this recording, Saeed Abu Mustafa continues to suffer in an Egyptian prison cell. There are even whispers that he has been mistreated.

To help you better understand what is going on with Saeed Abu Mustafa and other related cases is Dan Burmawi. Dan is himself an MBB. He grew up in the Middle East and is today an author and commentator well versed in these issues.

Many Christians around the West are perplexed by the times they are living in. Things at work, at school, on their streets –they’re just not the same as what they grew up with. Spiritually things are downgraded. The same holds true for the culture in general, which is now hostile to the Christian faith and biblical morals.

The attempted genocide of Christians in Nigeria’s central and northern regions has gone of for too long. Thousands havebeen killed, maimed and displaced. Yet few observers on the international stage take notice. Those that do fear that the situation is hopeless. Some shrug their shoulders and resign themselves that this must be the fate of Nigeria’s Christians.

But the Christians of northern and central Nigeria are not doomed. Their fate is not doomed. The evil that ensnares these men, women and children can actually be stopped – and possibly far easier than most imagine.

On this episode of the Christian Emergency Podcast, Andy shares fresh insight from the field in Nigeria. Although heconcedes the situation is serious, he also points out that there is ample reason for hope in Nigeria!

Until now, killing Christians in Nigeria has come with zero consequences. Those who carry out the attacks face no repercussions.  They are often not engaged by security forces. They are rarely if ever arrested, and if they are, they are “rehabilitated” or outright released. Those who finance, radicalize and arm the militants carry out their efforts with little interference.

Christians in many countries are not only persecuted, but openly hunted. In the Middle Belt of Nigeria, for example, asystematic campaign of Islamist violence, kidnapping and genocide are savaging Christian communities at an industrial scale. Secular elites largely shrug off or falsely explain away the atrocities. Those that do notice the bloodshed often feel powerless to offer more than prayers and perhaps some humanitarian support.

Prayers and humanitarian support are indeed desperatelyneeded. But there is another massive need that most never mention, though it is the proverbial elephant in the room: physical security. Persecuted Christians in northern and central Nigeria need to be physically safeguarded from theirheavily armed assailants. So do Christians in Syria, Burma and those living in many other lands.

But physical security cannot be provided them by fellow Christians. At least that’s the conclusion of many Christians today. Guided by pacifism and pietistic impulses, many Christians – including Christian leaders – regard such considerations as taboo. Physical security would requirethe use of power and force, which are themselves verboten themes.

But is the silence and inaction surrounding the physical safety of persecuted Christians truly biblical?
