We continue our series on the Christian family and our sub-series on Marriage. We look at the need for married couples to nurture the strength of their marriage bond. That they must grow in love, reconciliation, and intimacy to each other, because their flesh is very prone towards schism and its end: divorce, which is contrary to the design of their marriage, which is to be one flesh and to glorify God in it. We continue our series on Marriage and see the wife's role as a holy helpmeet to her husband. She must first consider her walk before the Lord in holiness and then apply her holiness to being her husband's helper and in the management of her home. Proverbs 31:10-31 and Titus 2:1-5.

We continue our series on marriage and come to the duties of wives. When considering the need for wives to submit to their own husbands in all things not sinful (Eph. 5:22) we find that the precondition for godly submission is a wife's respect for her husband (Eph. 5:33). Wives must grow in them a respect for their husband when considering his position in their home.

We continue our series on the Christian family and hear from the Word that husbands are the heads or leaders of their home under Christ as their own head. They are to set the course of the home and lead it well in godliness. They must lead their wife, but not lord over her, and are to counsel, consider, commend, and correct her and the children. We return to our series on the Christian Family and continue to investigate the duties of the husband in marriage and find that husbands are to provide for the needs of their wife in both soul and body, reflecting the truth that Christ as the savior of his Bride has provided all things that we need for blessedness.
